Painfully uncomfortable
I got these boots as a Christmas present and they are the most uncomfortable ski boots I have ever stepped into. I was fitted for them both before and after purchasing them, and was told by my local ski shop that I purchased the correct size. I’m not sure why, but the way they fit seems to completely restrict circulation to my feet, causing my toes to become painfully cold and numb within the first 15 minutes of strapping them on. I have skied in them over 20 times now hoping to “break them in” but have had no luck improving the comfort of the boots. Overall, would not recommend these boots to anyone.

Buy your boots elsewhere
My review is more for buying ski boots at REI than this particular boot. While the associate was friendly and helpful when we bought these boots for my daughter they ended up being completely the wrong boot for her. When they started to get painful last season, we went into 3 shops and they all took one look and told us the boots were too wide for her foot. At the beginning of this season we tried to fit them with custom liners at Surefoot and they told us the boot wasn't going to work. To make matters worse, when we tried to return them we were a month outside the return window so the manager at REI decided there was nothing they could do. It was an expensive lesson that there's no substitute for an experienced boot fitter.

Superb fit right out of the box.Switched from XMax 90 to the Shift boot . Transition was seamless!
