For size and shape context I'm 5'7" with a squishy outer layer to my curvy athletic build, I have longish legs (32" inseam). Typical "knee high" socks tend to top out at the apex of my calf muscles, never in my life has a pair of over the calf socks actually reached that far, the result is that my tall socks fall down. I had high hopes for these socks when I depackaged and put on the Smartwool Ski Full Cushion Over The Calf Socks (women's medium). Fit, apex of calf, cut's in weird and makes for a lumpy appearance under my pants. The cushion is nice but who cares because less than five minutes into my morning dog walk the socks were already slipping down and continued to slip until they were fashionably bunched at the ankle. With every step I wondered if I could tolerate this slippage while skiing, about REI's return policy on socks, should I wash them before returning them, I wondered if I still had the receipt, if I could fish out the packaging, if I could tolerate these socks until I got home, I questioned my very existence. I hate these socks. I'm giving this two whole stars, because these are socks, that's a fact, and they are warm and well cushioned. Maybe they'll fit someone else just fine. I did find the receipt and packaging, and I will be returning the two pairs of these socks and will exchange them for Over-the-Calf Midweight Ski and Snowboard Socks (women's medium) which fit great.
