I love these shoes!!! But....

I am a huge and long time Adidas Terrex fan. When I wore my first pair of Salomon Speedcross 3's, I quickly was converted. Usage: I am a Professional Disc Golf Photographer and I play a lot of disc golf. When on tour, I'm easily walking 3-5 miles a day. Terrain varies from golf courses to hills, to mountainous terrain. All kinds of weather, rain or shine. When playing disc golf I'm walking around 2-3 miles and that's on average 3 times a week. So needless to say, I get a lot of usage out of my shoes. What I love about my Speedcross GTX 6; Comfort, 10. Great for my narrow feet. Traction is super grippy for any terrain. Love the speed lacing tech. Easy to put on and take off shoes. Low enough base so I don't roll my ankles on rocks and what nots. It's a great shoe no doubt. I even want to purchase the non-gortex Speedcross 6 for more breathability when it's not raining or too dusty out. Although, the GTX is more breathable than the Adidas Gortex shoes. Why I gave these shoes a 3 rating...well, let's just say the idea of putting a whitish fabric cover over the tongue of the shoe that is geared for the outdoors and I not easy at all to clean, was probably not the most brilliant idea Salomon has had. After the first use, my shoes already look dirty and dingy and I can't do anything about it. Everything else on the shoe can be cleaned to keep it's relative newness. But the fabric over the tongue is so annoyingly dirty and squishes up. I've considered cutting off that part on the shoe but don't want to sacrifice any integrity of the shoe. Anyway, great shoe other than the fabric over the tongue. Super annoyed by it. Hopefully the Speedcross 7's won't have that feature...

Over 1000km at Six Months - Simply Awesome

Over the last six months, my Speedcross 6 Gore-Tex shoes have been used on all kinds of surfaces (gravel and dirt trails, paved paths, concrete sideways, boardwalks etc..) and in all kinds of conditions including snow and ice. The shoes have been truly outstanding. In terms of sizing, the Gore-Tex edition required a half-size larger for a better fit. The interior and external material wear is much better than previously owned Salomon styles. I'm expecting a few more months before ordering another pair!

Not For Disc Golf

I really like my shoes. Actually I love them, but I bought them to play disc golf in and they just dont hold up. I have less than 30 miles on these shoes, I've only had them two weeks. In just 3 rounds of disc golf I destroyed them. I'm really bummed out because I like them a lot. I wish I would have just used them on the trail and not for golf shoes. I wore a hole completely through them.

Best feeling shoe I ever wore. So lite it was as w

Shoe started ripping at tongue and toe by the end of the first 3 weeks. Also wearing them on the street as it became my number one shoes the soul wore out within a month and a half so you cannot wear these shoes on concrete if you expect them to last at all. I would give the shoe a five if it wasn't for the thin material used around the toe and tongue that caused it to rip and the fact that the soul of the shoe wears out so fast.

Great Traction Terrible Wear

I have owned multiple pairs of every version of SpeedCross GTX shoes. In almost every way these are the best in the series. Comfort and traction are the best of any shoe I have tried. If you want to trail run or scramble along mountains these are the best. You can stand on the worn out granite of Half Dome and not slip, that is how good the traction is. Huge downside is that the traction you love comes at an insanely high wear rate. I am through the chevrons on the sole in 3 months. Granted I put a ton of hard miles on these but past versions have lasted 9-12 months. At their price they have to find a better compromise of traction vs wear.

Excellence

I've been using Solomon hikers exclusively for years now and they never disappoint. These are my first trail runners and they fit exact as expected. Solomon shoes do fit narrow feet snuggly so keep that in mind. The cushioning provided good protection. The grip is amazing as I was hiking very steep muddy hills with no slipping at all.Quick Lace system is the best feature I think. Just pull evenly and it stays fixed all day. It's definitely 100% water proof too. Paired this with my Solomon gaiters and I'm good to go!!

Flashes of greatness - Issues with durability

Would be 5-stars hands down however quality issues leave me disappointed. I am fan of Salomon, love their boots and have had great experience there so decided to give these shoes a try. Out of the box comfort, incredible grip, and lightweight. Where I find issue is that the sole at the toe (see pic) started to delaminate 15 miles into their first ever hike, which is just beyond disappointing. Total trip was 32 miles over two days and seeing this is really worrisome being their maiden voyage. Was left wanting more with regard to how well the gore-tex kept me dry as well. I feel the climasol technology in the boots I have does a better job which I found surprising, and disappointing.

This is my first time using this shoe

This is my first time using this shoe and I can say they are great trail running shoe for a variety of terrains and conditions. It is lightweight, waterproof, and has excellent traction. However, it is not the most comfortable shoe on the market.
