Well Made, Nice fitting, and Durable

When I first bought the jacket I was expecting a big kinda bulky jacket. It's nothing like that. Very fitting, comfortable and lightweight for being what it is. The insulation is warm enough but I never feel like I will overheat in this jacekt which is a plus for me. I wouldn't say its a jacket I would take for weather below zero but for snow sports on an average 20-40 temperature day its perfect. A bonus is that it can be worn as an everyday jacket because of the way its made.

This is a very nice looking jacket. But I was cold in it despite layering. I would not characterize this as a winter jacket but for colder fall days. I wish Patagonia would make warmer and better insulated jackets. This one did not past the test.

Functional Ski jacket, great features, and pockets

This is a great long "powder day" jacket, with vents if it gets too warm, medium insulation which for me is just right. I say powder day, because with its length and internal waist band it keeps the snow out of your core. It is quite long both in the body and in the sleeves though, the sleeves are a bit too long for my preference, but over gloves it is not really very noticeable, but they get in the way when eating or at gloves off times. The hood is very nice, it comes over my face enough to block wind on a windy lift ride, and snugs down with the cords to help even more. There are also tension cords at the waist that you adjust from inside the pocket, those are really good in the windy or powdery days. too. They also put a lot of pockets in the coat, I count 4 on the outside, the top breast pocket has a pass through for headphone wires ( if you still use wires) and the one on the arm is nice for my cell phone. Inside there are another two pockets, one large enough for your hat, or smaller gloves. At the back of the jacket inside is a strap to hook to the back of your pants, and yes the Patagonia pants have the loop to accept that I dont use that feature, it feels odd to me. I wasn't in the wet to see about it waterproof features but I will see soon I am sure. Great jacket, especially for taller people I am 6'1" and got a medium, for those that are shorter you may feel it is too long, so try it first.

Perfect ski jacket for cold and deep resort days

The Powder Town Jacket is perfect crushing big days on the mountain, especially when the pow starts getting deep. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness in features make this jacket an absolute dream to ski in. Love features: - Insulated hood is a game changes on super cold days (and fits over a ski helmet) - Pockets - there are tons of places to stash stuff on this jacket (Napoleon pocket, hand warmer pockets, ski pass forearm pocket, internal dump pocket, internal zip pocket) - Powder skirt w/ tab to connect to the Powder Town pants - Pit zips - this jacket is WARM, so having pit zips to dump heat when temps rise is essential Overall, this is a super warm & fully featured ski jacket that will be my absolute go-to on chilly days on-piste.

Warm and versatile

I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been using this jacket skiing along the continental divide in a number of conditions and really like it. For how light it is it’s surprisingly warm, and if you want more air there are generous pit zips that you can open up. It’s something that will keep you comfortable with the exertion of hard turns, bumps, etc. while still keeping you comfy on the lift. It would also be great for even more rigorous activities like skimo. It has a Recco reflector if you’re using this in avalanche country. It has a large collar to keep the wind off your neck and a powder skirt. The powder skirt is adjustable with pulls that go through the front pockets, so you can adjust it while your jacket is fully zipped (pictured since that’s hard to describe). The hood is gigantic and will fit over a helmet but is also adjustable from the back if you don’t want it that bulky. It’s not removable and you can’t roll it up/zip it up to get it out of the way but it really didn’t flop around for me on the downhills and I hardly noticed it was there. This jacket is geared towards conditions that most skiers and snowboarders will probably encounter but sometimes it does get exceptionally cold and/or windy in the hills. On those days I’ll wear a heavier coat that I have, although that coat would be too warm in a lot of conditions in which this jacket excels. And forget about wearing that other one for things like skimo, even when it’s super cold out. The fit is generous, leaving plenty of room for layering underneath. I have a 38” chest and usually just wear a 250 weight merino base layer and there is still a lot of room.

Bombproof jacket, for around town or the ski hill

Bombproof jacket, for around town or the ski hill. The jacket is incredibly well made, as would be expected from Patagonia. I used it for a few days up at Bogus Basin in Idaho and so far I am impressed by its warmth and durability. I can already tell the Powder Town jacket will be in my rotation for years to come. It isn't the MOST waterproof jacket, so I wouldn't use it in a downpour, but would be great in cold and dry to cold and snowy conditions. Really, the only jackets that would stay dry in a downpour are 3L DWR jackets. I would put the warmth rating at a 6/10 (with 1 being a ski shell and 10 being a parka). As such, this will be a fantastic fall and winter jacket, but may be a bit too insulated for spring skiing. It is worth mentioning that Patagonia's warranty program is second to none. If you ever have any issues with the jacket, Patagonia will go out of its way to repair the jacket to keep it in rotation and out of the landfill. I have experienced the warranty first hand. Patagonia repaired a 10 year old puffer jacket of mine no questions asked. I ordered a large. I am 6'3, 225 pounds. 34 or 36 inch waist. If I ordered it again, I would probably pick up the XL in the jacket and large in pants. For the price, definitely worth picking up. Will be in your rotation for many years to come.

All around great lightweight jacket for the warmth

I’ve not typically considered Patagonia a ski brand, and this was my first experience with one of their jackets. I was impressed with the fit and build quality, and they have pockets in all the right places. My only complaint is that the sleeves seem a little longer than necessary. As long as you adjust the wrist straps, it isn’t an issue, though. It has an easy-to-use powder skirt and hood. The jacket is much lighter than the insulation would suggest. It isn’t as warm as my main ski jacket, but it is far lighter. I didn’t have a chance to wear it skiing yet, but I did wear it in the snow while assembling a temporary garage. It offered excellent mobility and didn’t interfere with anything I was doing. It also kept me warm for four fours in the snow and 20F temps. My 10-year-old son puked on it in the car, and it washed up easily. There was no issue in the washing machine or dryer, and it came out looking brand new. I would recommend this coat for everyday winter wear in climates where it is consistently below freezing. It would certainly work great as a ski jacket.

Nice jacket, but "insulated" is a stretch

Skied a couple days in this jacket. I like the fit and features, but probably going to return it as the insulation doesn't really feel substantial at all. It left me feeling cold on a relatively sunny, 15-25 degree day. I was wearing the same base layers that had been perfectly comfortable in my previous insulated ski jacket from a different manufacturer. If you're looking to use this as more of a shell, or for spring touring, it could be a good option. If you're looking for a bomb-proof take-anywhere jacket for cold weather, it's probably not for you.

There is no Patagonia logo on the chest.

I ordered the Power Town insulated jacket online and found that it doesn't have the Patagonia logo on the chest. I want to put the logo on it. What should I do? I ordered on April 5, 2025, order number A 344320834.

Nice three seasons jacket

After comparing this with a Columbia Whirlibird 4, I opted to keep this as the jacket to replace my well-worn Patagonia Down Sweater. I was looking for a synthetically-insulated jacket for temps from the 30s to upper-50s, having grown tired of my Down Sweater leaking feathers from the cuffs and elsewhere. I have been wearing this jacket non-stop for two weeks now and I’m quite happy with it. The shell is very water-repellent, the insulation is more than sufficient, construction quality is good, and the jacket looks quite nice. Any complaints would be minor but would include the absence of a two-way zipper [what was Patagonia thinking not including this, especially at this price point?] and non-stowable/-removable hood. Overall, would definitely recommend.

Powder Town USA

I have been looking for a new jacket all season and was on the fence on getting an insulated shell, but this jacket has been a great addition to my alpine ski apparel. The fit, functionality, style and comfort are all 5 star. I ski over 40 days a season and am excited to test the jacket in really cold conditions. I got a medium (I'm 5'9" and 175lbs), which still gives me room for a vest or light puffy when it gets really cold. I have only skied a few days with the jacket, but the hood and vents are perfect. Very nice fit and even on a warmer day the insulation was fine. Enjoy!
