I am 5'10", 150 lb. Medium fits quite well for me overall, except, the powder skirt is huge. The skirt measures 41", and i am a 31" waist, so even with ample layers underneath, the skirt is useless. I checked with Patagonia and they said 41" is indeed the correct length and it was not stretched out. Also, the 3 in 1 design of this jacket just doesn't work well with the powder skirt. The jacket liner extends slightly lower than the skirt, so you have to be careful about tucking it up in or it will get caked in snow. Overall design of this jacket is just a little off. The non 3in1 version is probably fine, but still loose in the powder skirt for a slim guy.
This is not a review of the product but of the ordering process. I had been watching this item for a while and then saw it on sale on the web site, and ordered it. The order was then cancelled, with the notification that it was out of stock. Odd, since it indicated that it WAS in stock on the catalog page. Then a week later, saw that the item WAS once again in stock again on the catalog web page, so ordered again. Again, got a notification that it was NOT in stock. So a rather frustrating experience with the catalog/ordering system. I thought REI was a more professional operation than this.
The only thing I do not like about this jacket is the front zipper is not covered which in really bad weather makes the zipper a little more difficult to operate. Otherwise it is a great jacket.
The clips between the 3-in-1 broke on the first wear. Very awkward, as cannot easily exchange the same size, and repairs are 20 dollars with Patagonia
Light to wear. Great comfort and gentle warmth from the liner. Emaculate rain protection from shell. Confident.
Well made great fitting jacket . Have not worn without liner but very warm with liner. Got jacket at great sale price , I think because of this color, but actually like it very much.
