Versatile piece -- I wear it everywhere!
I never really considered myself a vest person until I tried the Atom Vest. I tend to run quite warm during high-output activities, and this vest is the perfect midlayer for me, whether I'm cycling, skiing, or just hanging out. I appreciate the sleek look of the Black color. The collar is a bit tall, but I don't mind it; it offers extra protection when I need my midlayer to keep me warm.
Definitely a Different Design
The Atom Vest has been a staple of mine for over 12 years and I have purchased at least 3 of them after I have worn them to a nub. When I bought this revised vest I thought I would like the higher collar, but it is too high. It really comes up to my mouth, so only does it look unstylish, but also not functional. I also, am not sure I like to longer length, but I'm also only 5'1", so I'm guessing most people would like this change. All in all, it is still a great vest, but I wish they would find a compromise on the collar length and also the length of the vest. I use to buy XS, but with this new design and revised sizing I had to exchange for an XXS.
Bring back the old style
I have ordered two sizes of this vest and returned both. This is not made for a woman. The fit is completely off. I've previously owned two of these vests and just wanted to purchase one in black also. The small size, which is what I own now, is too large. I read reviews and ordered the XS. It's too small in the hip area. The collar is too tall and my neck and chin get lost in there. I don't know why they changed a good thing, but it's not the same. I won't purchase it again.
Moonlit blue color has contrasting collar
So disappointed this blue doesn't continue inside. Some may like the contrasting collar look, but I wanted all blue. I have two black ones, and they're 100% black inside. There are no pictures on the website showing it partly unzipped, which is how many of us will wear it. Sending it back.
It wasn't broke; and the new changes didn't fix it
I wanted to replace my years-old purple Atom vest and this one just did not fill the bill (sorry, but this one is being returned and I'm glad I kept the old one). The teal color is great. But I was disappointed to find the collar so much higher on this new version, even higher than it looks on the very long-necked photo models. The too-high collar is uncomfortable unless I turn it down (which shows the black lining, unlike the same-fabric lining in the old and perfect version). The armholes are cut in a strange way unlike the old version, and the new one is too long.
Fits larger than it should - size down.
Bought this for daily wear as well as another layer for my outdoor activities, and found that while the quality seems to be what I'd expect, the fit is really off. I found that compared to my other Arc'teryx tops/jackets that this runs large. I wish that I would have sized down to a small! I wear a medium in all other styles, but this is gigantic. Wish I had not removed tags and worn it a bit before noticing how much bigger it was than expected. Nice for a light vest layer, but size a full size down at least. Boxy, large.
Collar too tall, stiff, and gaping
I really dislike the new redesign because the collar is too tall, stiff, and gaping, and therefore not functional for activities like running (the top of the collar was constantly grazing the front of my chin.) It seems like this design choice was made solely for aesthetic reasons, since the men's vest doesn't feature a strange gaping collar like this. Returned promptly, but wish that Arc'teryx carried a lightweight insulated vest for women with a functional collar.

Best in Class
This is my second atom vest and it is a go to item for me in the fall, spring and as a layering item in the winter. The lightweight insulation provides just enough core warmth under a puffy in the winter and takes the chill off in the spring and fall. The vest packs small, dries quickly and has very few catchment points when wearing a harness, backpack or other layers. Also works well as an everyday vest in the cooler months. The pockets are ample and zip closed.
Another favourite garment
I own the "old" atom vest, and as I wore it 300 from 365 days I decided to order a second one in another colour. Yes, this one is different with the high collar, in the beginning I was irritated but the collar adapted soon to my neck - and I don't have to wear a scarf for cycling now. It fits slightly larger than the old one. As it touches the skin on the neck I think I will have to wash it more frequently, I hope it will survive long.
Not for me, I regret to say
I LOVED the Atom Light Vest I purchased years ago along with the Atom Light Jacket. Both gave me many years of treasured use. The vest disappeared in an airport last year. I ordered the new Atom Light Vest but found it very different, too long for my 5’3” height, too high in the neck, and its straight cut too narrow, especially since it extended down over my hips. I returned it with regret. I mawas pleased with the prompt refund.
