Nice comfort away from home
Up until now, I never used a camp pillow before. Love how small this compresses and it is extremely comfortable. Now not as comfortable as my regular pillow, but it sure beats laying my head on old smelly clothes in a stuff sack! Cocoon makes a very good quality Pillow. It’s filled with a static material but uses air to inflate the core. I definitely recommend it.
Liking from a lot of places
I originally bought this brand of pillow almost 10 years ago and had it til my car and belongings got stolen this last may. I decided to buy a new one and that lasted maybe 5 uses til the cheap plastic inner pillow that was supposed to hold air was leaking from the valve and about 10 other microscopic holes. I had used it last week fine, kept it packed away and took it out to use backpacking this week and was greatly disappointed. I had actually tried to tape the holes with finger tape but it proved ineffective. The old ones were bulletproof, these new ones I will never buy again. :( I really loved the brand and pillow til I saw how these new ones were built
First impressions after use
Spent two nights with pillow. Coming from basic travel pillow, loved the compact size, easy of inflation / deflation, the soft material on one side, and mostly being a side sleeper it propped my head up better. But being small, I had to inflate it 100%, and that makes it very hard. I can see now why a larger version of the pillow might be worth twice the price; you could deflate that one so it's still large enough but had some give. But I am better off with this pillow at this price point than where I was before. I am curious if a not inflatable / expandable pillow would have been better for my needs.
The perfect back packing pilow
These pillows are wonderful! After watching review videos and scanning reviews that didnt mention Cocoon, I decided to take the plunge. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. They are tiny when stuffed in their sack, about half the size of a soda can. They weigh next to nothing. The inflate/deflate valve is simple and effective. With inflation level, you can create the firmness you desire. They are plenty big when blown up but snuggle nicely into a mummy bag hood. The fabric is soft and pleasant on the skin. Definately a great pillow!!!
Deflated and would not hold air, first time used.
The very first time I took the pillow out of the package and used it camping, it did not hold air and deflated almost immediately. Seems like a poor quality construction. This made for quite an uncomfortable camping trip, however REI did provide good customer service and accepted the return.
Trusty travel companion
I had one of the previous models that lasted a decade or so before it delaminated at the seams. This new one is a welcome improvement in comfort. Still packs tiny, but the valve is easier to use and it's now shaped to your neck. I bring it on long plane and car rides since it takes up no space. Camping-wise, fits snug in my mummy bag and you can easy control the inflation amount to your comfort level by letting some air out. I'm a side, back, and front sleeper, plus I often camp in a hammock, and this little guy's always been comfy for me.
Convenient!
This little guy is really light and packs up to the size of a coffee mug so it's great for travel. I just used it for a week of camping but the problem is that I didn't use it right. This is meant to fit in the hood of your sleeping bag but this trip my partner and I used a double sleeping pad and two compatible sleeping bags that zipped together but did not leave a space for this pillow. With that being the case, it did slide around a lot (a little less if I put the fabric side on the bottom and slept on the "silkier" side). It honestly wasn't a big deal to me to just pull it back over and fall back asleep. I think it'd be perfect for a one-person mummy bag though, I love the difference in firmness you can get back deflating it a little. Two of my friends asked for the link for it.
Great pillow
This pillow is perfect. I bought 3. One for my husband and 2 for me. I use one for my head and one between my knees when sleeping on my side. It is small enough that it fits in the mummy bag while using it between my knees. The light weight makes it also perfect for backpacking. I've had them for 2 years with no problems. I love the shape. Your shoulder fits nicely on the curved bottom and it fits perfectly into the hood of the mummy bag. I plan to use it on a plane since it is so small.
Not great for cold nights
So, I've had this pillow for years. It's comfortable, durable, and fits nicely in to my sleeping bag hood. More recently I've started camping when it's colder and I want to have my head completely tucked into the hood of my sleeping bag with the drawstring cinched around my face, which means I can't use the pillow as intended. If I use the pillow outside of my sleeping bag hood it inevitably slides away. Fine if it's not cold, not useable if you want to actually put your head in the sleeping bag hood.
Goldilocks pillow
Pillow isn't too small, or too big like the ones I compared to in store. It takes 1.5-2 breaths to inflate, and has two different textured sizes for different preferences. Really thoughtful engineering here. Plus the price point was right in the middle as well. Packs light and small. Ended up getting a second for my fiance.
