Very comfy and good for the trail, but the design has a wear hotspot at the sides/corners of the toe box. After 8-9 months of occasional use, the abrasion-resistant coating had developed holes on either side (both shoes) and worn completely through on one corner (one shoe). I wore this pair for occasional hiking; they weren't a daily driver, and I wasn't doing anything really extreme in them. I really wanted to like these shoes, but they're not as durable as I'd hope for the price.
After reading the other reviews, I just want to point out that these are minimalist "barefoot" shoes. Meaning that you will feel everything under foot and so your feet need to be conditioned to that feeling. It takes a LONG time (several months to a year) to transition from traditional shoes to a true barefoot style shoe like the Terraflex 2. I went from HOKA to Altra to Xero and now, putting on the HOKAS just feels rediculous. I have probably 400 miles of trail running, hiking, backpacking, and daily wear on my current pair and theyre still going strong. I plan to wear these on a 200 mile section hike on the Appalachian Trail this month. So.....be patient, transition slow, and you just might end up with some very strong and capable feet. As thery should be. The Ultralight Mindset
These shoes are comfortable for day-to-day wearing. They are not great for hiking more than 30 minutes to an hour. I liked them enough that I would have just worn them around town, except the soles of both shoes separated from the upper after about 4 months. For the price, I wasn’t expecting these to last forever by any means, but the quality was very disappointing.
A word of caution: I developed a severe case of plantar fasciitis — a condition I had never had before — as a result of hiking in these shoes. I have used zero drop shoes for years, and attempted to transition to these slowly and carefully. I have now been unable to hike for several weeks, and have moderate pain while walking and standing. Initially, I did like the ground feel while wearing these shoes. The traction in mud and soft ground is outstanding. The grip on wet wood and rock is poor/ non-existent; the worst I have experienced with any trail shoe. The durability of the upper and outsole seem excellent, but the thin ribbon eyelets do not seem durable at all. The thin ribbons do tend to snag often on all kinds of debris on-trail, and have worn out disproportionately fast. In terms of value, I think these shoes are extremely overpriced relative to the design and performance (my personal injuries aside), and should be closer to competitors in the $40-60 range. The only use case I could see is for very short, casual hikes. Even so, I think there are far more substantial choices, especially at this price point and with these features.
Since transitioning to minimalist footwear, I can't wear anything else. My feet now feel stronger and far more resilient. Just know what you're buying--these have no arch support or heel-toe drop. That said, I love these shoes. They feel stiff at first, despite how minimalist they are. However, once broken in, they feel great. The soles grip like superglue, they dry fast, and they're comfortable all day long. I've put more miles on these than my last two pairs of Altras and they're still holding up great.
Very comfortable but not durable enough. I had a warranty pair sent to me (for 60% of the full price) from Xero because of the tread wearing out quickly. Now that pair after a year of wearing it has holes where the mesh meets the solid on the upper - one hole in each shoe, same place on both shoes. But if you can get them on sale, maybe it's worth it for just a year to you, if it only lasts that long.
Have owned the shoes for just over the year. I typically wear sandals so I only wear these shoes a couple of times a month. Sadly with as little use as these shoes get they are already starting to disintegrate.
I've been using these as my everything shoe for 3 years now. The first pair lasted a long time before I lost them. The second pair lasted about a year for street + trail (hiking & running) until just my right shoe was wearing out in a couple spots on the bottom. Super comfy and half the price of any similar shoes. I had worn Xero sandals for a couple years before getting the shoes, so I knew what I was getting into with a "barefoot" model shoe.
I have been wearing the treraflexII for awhile and I still love them I have noticed unlike my Prios (which I’ve had to get rid of) they don’t have a severe odour they are durable and I use them for work which is 12hrs a day and I barely sit so most of my shift is spent standing and I am not exhausted or sore like I was before experiencing Xero shoes while I was imprisoned with narrow traditional shoes. My little toes are no longer being overlapped by the ones next to them and there is more natural spacing between all my toes. My posture has improved significantly and my back is not as bad as it used to be. I am extremely grateful for the company Xeroshoes for making good quality and affordable shoes that actually have helped improve my posture and i experience a significant decrease in fatigue when on my feet regularly.
Very Light, thin cushioning on the soles- can feel stepping on a leaf, yet the volume overall and toe box fit my feet comfortably. I would not hike anywhere in them except to my car over a trimmed lawn or a sidewalk. I find them similar in fit and feel to my household slippers. But I do like them.
