The streets of Seattle.

I'm homeless and I have been using this tent for around two months on the streets of Seattle . Sometimes I have to stay at a park over night in the city. The people that dont want others camping in a park sometimes throw their dog ball on to my tent and seconds later their dog comes jumping at full speed right into my tent. What I like best about this tent is if its set up right, the dog just bounces off.

Poles easily broke

I got this tent and used it twice before one of the major poles broke. This is cheap material and is not even close to the sturdiness of aluminum. Upon paying $20 to ship the poles back to to Marmot, they informed me: "Our current turnaround time for equipment repairs is 20 weeks from the time we receive the item, as stated on the warranty policy section of our website. While we realize this long wait time is not ideal,...[we treat all of our customers this way]" So I paid for a $300 tent that I can no longer use for camping season...I will never buy Marmot ever again!!!

Excellent Tent

I have used this tent for primitive motorcycle camping for the past two years, an average of every month, with good results. Torrential rain, 30mph winds? No problem, with all of the guy lines staked out. No leaks in the floor, nor from the fly. Though condensation is always an issue, even with the fly vent. I use a UCO Candle Lantern to help manage it. I sprayed water repellant on the fly at the start of the second season, as a preventative measure... I'm 6'6". There is plenty of room for me and my gear. My motorcycle's panniers fit in one vestibule, in the other I stow a highback Helinox Chair Two, riding boots, and a small dry bag. You could fit two adults in this tent, but you'd have to store your gear in a dry bag in the vestibules. I will probably have to replace the footprint after this season. It has held up admirable after the mistreatment it's had. Overall, I am impressed with the quality of this tent and would recommend ot to others.

Great 3-season boating tent for 2+ dog

We got this to replace a 20-year old NF Foundation 44. We also looked at the REI 3P Half Dome which is a bit lighter, but was out of stock. We ordered this instead since we had a trip coming up with rain in the forecast and I am glad we got it. The design is well thought out. * pockets in all four corners * solid nylon comes up above the ground to give some protection from blowing sand * Door design does a pretty good job keeping zippers out of the sand * footprint is included - all tent makers should do this! * Easy and quick to set up, better with two people * velcro tabs for poles help in the wind but are a bid fiddly. Best to secure them when you are putting on the fly, before you clip it into the tent base * material seems heavy duty - not ideal for backpacking but great for rivers or car camping * Headlight diffusing pocket in the roof is a nice idea (we did try it). * Roomy for two full size adults and a dog or gear * Two vestibules (one is larger) are adequate for river bags and gear * You could just use the fly and the footprint though we didn't try this. It would protect from dew. * We had some rain and wind and the tent did well * For desert use get some 9" MSR Cyclcone stakes. Eight is the right number. * The included stakes are just aluminum rod so minimal grip in sand and loose soil. We crossed two in loose soil and that worked OK. The only negative thing we found was the attachments for the footprint are way longer/looser than the the tent, so the footprint won't stay on unless you run the poles through it first, then the tent. Why do they do this? Other recent tents seem to have the same "feature".

Serious defect right out of the box

Got this as a car/camping occasional backpacking tent. I'm a fan of Marmot products but this one fell short. After receiving, tried to set it up in the backyard to check it out and familiarize with setup. The design has a critical joint at the top of the tent. The inner sleeve of one of the poles had fallen into the outer pole, making it impossible for the two poles to connect (see photo, one pole is missing the shiny end.) I was able to extract the inner sleeve with pliers but it wouldn't stay put. There's a lot of stress on this part of the pole because of its location, so I don't have any confidence it would stay in place during use. Otherwise it seems like nice tent and good value, but I had to return it. I've never seen this problem in any tent even after years of use. Seems like a significant QA issue.

marmot for life!

RIP my half done 2 from REI of 8.5 years! Labor Day weekend and an emergency tent was needed for comping. Marmot stepped up and knocked this one out of the park. Fits 2 sleepers (or one person with a decent size air mattress) and backpack gear/duffle quite nicely. Oh and it breathes so nicely, with the fly on too. If there was a way to give this little all star tent 6 stars I would. It POURED in the woods of NE CT- And this tent packs a very sturdy rain fly! Stayed nice and dry! Marmot; I’ll give you this I’m very impressed with the quality and weight of this tent. I hope to keep it on many journeys to come! Here’s to adventure!

Lesser quality than older Tungsten version

My first tungsten 3p tent was purchased approximately 10 years ago and has been very well used (and well taken care of). I decided to purchase a new Tungsten tent because I just couldn't get the water to bead away after waterproofing many times over the years (Kiwi Camp Dry and Wood's silicone waterproof spray). Also, the velcro tabs kept coming off even though I I glued them back on... and the tent clips (that attach to the poles) were starting to tear away from the screening. Anyway, it had served me very well and I accepted that these are the things that slowly start to break down after many years of use. In setting up my new Tungsten tent, I instantly noticed the quality of materials did not match up to my old version of this tent. Material is finer (feels thinner), all of the strapping and buckles are smaller and there is just an overall feeling of cheapness to the tent. I've only been on a 5 day trip so far and it kept me dry. And I do appreciate the improvement with moving from plastic to aluminum for the piece that ties the main poles together. I expect it will serve it's purpose but just disappointed in the loss of quality in materials. I also suspect that it will not last as long as my old version. One last gripe, there are 8 points of tie down on the tent itself plus 4 more to secure the fly in high winds, for a total of 12 tent pegs required, so why does the tent only come with 6 pegs. I weighed the tent and fly and there is only a 5 gram difference between the old and new, so cutting quality on the materials wasn't to reduce weight. Very disappointed, I used to rave about this tent to everyone I knew but will no longer be recommending it unless the quality in materials is improved upon.

Excellent quality

I purchased this tent to be used as regular camping prior to backpack trips where I use a lighter tent. My main things I was looking for prior to buying this tent was quality materials and simple easy set up. When I set this up for the first time, it was very simple. The color coded poles & clips were helpful. I was able to assemble it very quickly by myself. The materials (poles & fabric) feel very quality. Other campers I went with also mentioned how durable the fabric felt. I can’t leave a review how well it holds up over time, since it is new, but my first impressions are great!! It is slightly smaller than some other 3 person tents, but very comfortable for one or two people.

3 man=1 Adult plus gear

The 3 person is more like a 1 adult, plus gear. The vestibule are tiny. You can fit some shoes, small bags, or short folded chairs. It only comes with enough stakes for the 4 corners and 1 for each vestibule. You'll need more for to use the guy lines(for windy areas). You can put the rain fly on backwards, so make sure you have the doors lined up prior to clipping it on. With that in mind, it's a solid tent that's easy to set up. I only used it in fair weather, so far...
