Just purchased & received these via REI outlet sale. Great Sale Price for such a high end pole. All Aluminum INCLUDING THE ALL CRITICAL CLASPS that secure the pole height. Nice black foam handles (some may prefer cork). I lOVE the extended foam down the pole so I don't have to adjust the pole for times when I need to shorten length temporarily, and light weight compared to others. Have read some reviews about tips not being tight. Checked and these were very tight tips. Very high quality ALL Aluminum poles. Lastly, the straps have a soft inner liner which helps with longer hikes. Nice touch. After first pair arrived, purchased a 2nd pair. Plus, Komp has a 3yr no questions asked repair warranty.
I am looking forward to using them. I purchased because one of my current poles would not tighten. As soon as I ordered, I fiddled with it and bingo, it worked! (Murphy's law in operation,) But when I tried to use it a few days later, it again didn't tighten. At this point, I am planning to try to get through the winter on the old ones and treat myself to the new ones in the spring. I anticipate the clip tighteners to be more reliable than the twist-to-tighten version of the old ones. Both sets are Komperdell.
It is just my preference I preference the rubber handles vs the foam handles. The foam runs down the pole for additional comfort in step hikes but I believe it also adds unnecessary weight the locks are solid
Lightweight, easily adjustable straps, easily adjustable length. Comfortable hand grips.
