- Reach Reach is the horizontal distance from the center of the cranks to the center of the head tube, measured at head tube level.
- Stack Stack is the vertical distance from the center of the cranks to the center of the head tube, measured to the top of the head tube.
- Effective Top Tube Effective top tube is the distance from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube/seat post, measured parallel to the ground.
- Seat Tube Center to Top Seat Tube length is the measurement of the seat tube, from the center of the cranks to the top of the seat tube.
- Head Tube Length Head Tube Length is measured from the bottom to the top of the head tube.
- Head Tube Angle Head Tube Angle is the acute angle between the head tube and the ground (measured towards the rear of the bike)
- Seat Tube Angle Seat Tube Angle is the acute angle between the seat tube and the ground (measured towards the rear of the bike).
- Bottom Bracket Height Bottom Bracket Height is a measurement taken vertically from the ground up to the center of the cranks.
- Wheelbase Wheelbase is the measurement from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle.

A solid hybrid
Bought it to replace a twenty year old Specialized Rockhopper. Even though that bike was a "Mountain" bike and this one is a "Hybrid" they are virtually interchangeable. Biggest difference is that the CTY lacks the huge range of gears that my old bike had. Thus far its been exactly what I wanted. Brakes are a bit grabby, I don't love the saddle (but could say that about virtually every saddle). Once I [hopefully] get back into decent cycling shape, will probably wish that it had some taller gears. Otherwise great so far, if you are looking for a bike to use on roads but don't want a Road bike, would definitely recommend.
GREAT BUT I MAY UPGRADE AGAIN TO AN ADV BIKE
First all let me say that the 2.2 here as described doesn’t come with the listed drivetrain, they come with Shimano Deore 1X10. Sooo, I initially purchased the CTY 2.1 after getting back on a bicycle after a decade or so. 300 miles in, I wanted to upgrade the drivetrain. The REI suggested after costs, it was better to just upgrade the entire bike. This was the next bike up. Better suspension with a true lockout, and a 10 speed. The gears seem ok, but I’d prefer a crank with 2 gears. Just got back from my first ride. This bike seemed slower. At first I thought the tires were wider, but no, they are the same size, just a different style. I will say it’s a much softer ride. I live in a very hilly community, and the bigger gears helped me up the hills with no problem. I asked the associate what was the next step up from what I was getting and they suggested a gravel bike. The riding style wasn’t attractive, but I may give it a go, at least for a test ride. With both hybrid bikes, the 2.1 and 2.2 it feels like I’m fighting the bike to go faster. I don’t need road bike fast, but something a lot less strenuous especially on flat surfaces.
Fits my needs well.
I’m over 65 and mainly ride now on paved and hard-packed dirt trails. Some places have a sprinkling of gravel or smallish ruts and bumps or an incline or two. I bought this bike to replace a 25 year-old carbon fiber mountain bike. I’m glad I did. The CTY’s geometry makes me sit more upright which I find more comfortable. The “granny” gear gets me up the inclines that I choose to ride. The overall gearing lets me ride as quickly as I want, but the middle gears are more suited to recreational wandering than bombing around. The website specifies Shimano Cues components, but mine arrived with Shimano Deore stuff. I don’t know the quality difference between Cues and Deore-branded components, but the bike shifts and brakes well so I have no complaints. I’m going to replace the spec saddle with one that has a men’s relief channel, but that’s to indulge a personal preference.
City Commuter Bike
Using it primarily for a city commute of about 5 miles one way. Nice smooth ride. Shifts well in both directions. Great range of gears (I cross a bridge along the way). Easily put a rack on the back for a bag. Air fork is what drove me into purchasing the 2.2 versus the next model down. Riding a L frame at 6’0”. No complaints.
CTY 2.2 Bike
The Clackamas REI staff were very knowledgeable in the various bike models and attributes in order to fit the bike to my needs and then size it correctly. The shop staff also assembled the bike and showed me how to use and maintain it. I use the bike to commute to work and it has improved my ride tremendously. I would recommend this store and bike to anyone wanting an excellent bike and help selecting one.
Competitive price and excellent service.
The description and technical data accurately portrayed the bike. The staff was excellent in adjusting the cycle to fit me, and I can bring it back in for a year to make changes if needed.
