Not warm
I am very disappointed in these gloves. Bought them because I have had problems keeping my hands warm when working outside in the winter. Spent the day outside in 23 degree weather cleaning gutters and transitioning our lawn equipment to winter snow clearing mode. I had to take many breaks to go in the house and warm my hands because my fingers were in such pain. I even wore them with a pair of liner gloves to no avail. For short trips outside with the dogs they’re fine, but they definitely fell short for all-day use working outdoors.
Disappointing build quality.
I've just bought two pairs of these gloves from different retailers and on both occasions the stitching was coming away on the thumbs, prompting me to send them back. Not sure whether there is an issue with the manufacturing process but it's concerning that the same issue has occurred in both pairs. The fit is true to size, if not slightly snug. Overall design looks good.
Top bit of kit, have
Top bit of kit, have used them for several days of Scottish winter climbing and they have kept my hands completely dry and very warm. Generally used for walk ins rather than climbing as they're a bit chonky for fiddling about with ropes and gear but I guess that's the trade off for such a warm glove.
Cosy and dry
I bought this gloves cause I always have cold hands in the mountains, they provide sufficient insulation for around -8C ( the lowest I test) paired with the forge liner gloves I no longer fear the cold, windy and wet weather. I use em for winter trekking on high mountains
Good but not perfect
Great quality but not the best anatomical fit. Plus in cold conditions I had frozen fingers due to the wrinkles when gripping my ice tools. Probably the Pivot or other models will perform better for long steep north faces.
The formula for warmth was
The formula for warmth was lost in the design change. I have an older pair of Rab gloves that are amazing, but the new ones are nowhere near as warm. Sometimes you should just leave good designs alone. I returned them.
Hi Mark, Thanks for the review. I'm sorry to hear you did not get on with the newer model. The overall design of the gloves are very similar to the older version, using the same Bemberg Lining and Pittards Leather, though now it also features Primaloft Gold insulation in both the palm and backhand we have just changed the fabric we use on the outside and updated the shape of the gauntlet. Stay safe on the hills, Rab:registered:
Brilliant fit, well thought out
Brilliant fit, well thought out design with the safety wrist hoops so no chance of dropping if taken off, super super warm and these actually are water proof and they are supple enough for rope work.
Awesome gloves for ice climbing
My hands are always cold, and these did great. Took them ice climbing when it was -5 out, and my hands were finally warm without having to use liners or hand warmers
Obviously made to a really
Obviously made to a really high standard. Sadly relegated to London for the time being but will be used in anger next year no doubt.
I got these gloves for
I got these gloves for my partner's birthday. He is super excited to use them in his mountaineering trips. The size is spot on.
