Let’s get visible
Received free product
When you live in the woods where people shoot guns year-round and your dog looks a lot like a coyote, high-visibility gear is an essential. And this Lumenglow jacket is our new favorite! When I first received it, I was worried the medium would be too big on our 44-pound heeler mix, but the coverage turned out just right, and the collar comfortably fits her furry neck. The fabric softened up after a couple of wears and she seems quite comfortable in it. She’s super active and enjoys easy mobility in the jacket, running, rolling, and fetching. And most importantly I can see her from far away, whether she’s off investigating in the trees or snow or rain are clouding the view. This jacket is BRIGHT, from neon fabric to reflective trim, and it’s well-made with lots of thoughtful dog-friendly touches, as Ruffwear always does, from stretchy straps to enclosing the buckles with fabric on both sides so they don’t rub against their skin. The opening for a harness on the back is a great touch too. Highly recommended to keep your free-running pup safe and in your sights!

Material Too Thick And Stiff
I bought this jacket for my little girl. I wanted her to have a reflective jacket, and I looked around for awhile before I decided on this one. I was worried about it fitting her, because most Ruffwear clothing doesn't fit her body properly, but the sizing was different on this one, and I'm happy with the fit of the body, but not the fit of the neck. I wish it was a little lighter in weight, so it could be worn in warmer months, because she'll only be able to use it in cooler months. The material is thick, and stiff, so it doesn't move with her. The collar is too high, very stiff, and a little tight, and would bother her, rubbing against her, if it was up, so I tried to lay it down, although it isn't made to do that, and it doesn't stay put. It was a bit pricey, but all Ruffwear clothing is. I'm keeping it, and she'll use it in the cooler months, and I'll try to do something about the collar, so it doesn't rub her, but I'll still be looking for a lighter weight reflective jacket that moves with her, and doesn't have such a high, stiff, tight, bothersome, collar.

Excellent low light hiking companion

Received free product

When I received the ruffwear hi-vis jacket, I was a little concerned that it would simply be taking up space in my (doggy) gear closet. My initial impressions were excellent. The construction was rugged and the features appeared thoughtfully placed. Hugo, my 1 year old border collie, wasn't super keen on another bit of gear, but he soon warmed up to it as he realized it meant we were going on an adventure. The fit was excellent and I appreciated the elastic in the chest strap, which allowed an especially secure fit. The small opening that allowed clipping into the harness worked well enough. We did have to do a little digging, causing some grief when switching from off leash to on leash in a hurry. The visibility gave us no troubles, however. A huge upgrade from the bike light we had been using, strapped to Hugo's harness. 360 degrees of hi-vis doggy goodness and lots of compliments (and pets) on and off the trail. We think, and Hugo agrees, that the hi visibility jacket from ruffwear is an excellent addition to any nocturnal adventurer and their furry companion.

Gear Dog Walking Vest

Received free product

Nice dog vest in bright colors! It is very visible at night/low light settings and we use it nightly on our walks. I like how the clips are covered by the fabric on the sides, it makes it seem very secure and easy to get on/off. The leash attachment point on the back is also handy, and the coast keeps Duke dry in the rain.

High quality and will last

Ruffwear makes the most sturdy vests that can withstand my dog rambling through the forest without breaking and tearing when it gets caught on branches. We use this so he’s always visible on his “adventures,” and also around the campsite at night. The newer model is slightly more heavy duty than the older vest, so it may not be good for temps of 90+ F. This is his 3rd one, only because he ate the other 2.

Great for hiking during hunting season and beyond

I live in NC, and have been doing more hikes in the NC mountains, mostly in State Parks, and on the App-Trail. I was displeased to find that I was on a stretch of the Trail that allowed hunting, and actually ran-into a hunter ON the trail during my hike. I have a 100lb red doberman that I rarely leash-walk, and realized that I needed to make him as VISIBLE as possible with Blaze Orange in the woods during this time. Ruffwear to me, is one of the best Dog-gear brands for active dogs, albeit somewhat pricey - it's always good quality, and worth the price! I shopped around, and found this to be the BEST option, with Florescent Yellow AND blaze orange + generous amounts of reflective striping for low-light visibility. I couldn't be more pleased with how visible this made my hiking buddy! The added benefit is that it makes him more visible for me to spot him while he's exploring the area, and to other hikers. The fit was spot-on from the given chart (he's a large) with a 36" chest 29" at the withers, but obviously narrow mid-section. The material isn't heavy, and he didn't chafe or overheat during our first 5 mile jaunt. The material is durable enough to slough off underbrush and not get ripped or snagged, and light enough allow free movement without irritation on my dog's skin, despite his thin coat. THe material is water repellent as well, as we got some light rain on that day. The adjustments and buckles are thoughtful, and the whole thing stays put on him during high activity, where so many other jackets don't. Neck is long enough to cover his collar, but folds back to allow more freedom of movement, and breathability. THis jacket is a bargain at >$50! The only concern I have, is that with the bright-light colors, it shows dirt easily, and although I'm sure it can be washed repeatedly, I fear the reflective material wont last as long under multiple washings. THis jacket TOTALLY exceeded my expectations in fit, finish, and purpose. I highly recommend for those looking to add more visibility for their hiking/walking fur buddies!

Great for visibility and more!

Received free product

Visibility ensured? Check! Our sweet 50lb dog is brown with black brindle markings. We often take her on hikes in the mountains and with her markings, she easily blends in the woods. This jacket helps us spot her more easily as well as protects her from being mistaken as deer during hunting season. The material is light but would keep her warm on chillier days as well as dry during light rains. The reflective material is truly bright and works to keep her visible for walks after dark. The Dr. Strange-like collar gives her neck extra protection in the rain and can be folded back if needed. We especially like that the side buckles have light material under them to protect her from chafing. Our pup has short hair so this is a nice detail for her. Other features include a leash portal on top for harnesses worn under the jacket. The medium fit is perfect for her. Overall a great product.

Fantastic visibility, low breathability

Received free product

First off this thing is good at what it does, you can see it from a mile away in the dark! For night time walks especially anywhere near traffic, this is about as good as it gets. However, my pup got very hot the minute we started playing fetch. It fits great, and doesn't slide around at all (my dog wears a large). It is very easy to get on and off and the buckles seem sturdy. Overall, it is a great product, it just doesn't breath much so I really wouldn't use it for exercise or in hot weather! For chilly walks in the gloomy PNW though, this is perfect.

Protect your hiking puppy!

Well designed, and seems very comfortable for our grandpup. Does not slow him up in the woods.

Safety Alert

Received free product

A quality product made of sturdy well made materials that held up to the wear and tear of my dog. There were two items I didn't like about the jacket. One: it is made of a heavier material that would be fine in winter time but, for this time of year it wasn't. A lighter material for the warmer months would be better. It will be used more in the colder months. Second, the collar is to long and caused it to be bothersome and annoying. I had to fold it back to correctly fit the dog and make it more comfortable. It's easy to put on and take off. Overall, I was pleased with the jacket and it definitely makes the dog stand out and seen.

Great rain jacket with visibility!

Because of my work schedule, my black lab mix and I are often walking in the dark. She’s usually impossible to see, but this jacket makes a big difference in us being visible to cars. A friend has this jacket for her dog and recommended this to us for rain gear. I appreciate it for that and especially for safety.
