For me these boots were comfortable right out of the box. Unfortunately they were not able to regulate the temperature, it was either too hot sweaty feet or freezing toes. I wore them for my Kilimanjaro 7 day hike, everyday my socks were drenched in sweat, except for summit night, I wore sock liners and a thick pair of warm wool socks and my toes still almost froze. I have to say they have excellent grip, cushion and the wide toe box is just perfect for my feet. I didn't have the opportunity to cross any creeks so no input as to them being waterproof.
unfortunately! I actually received a defective product!
I wanted to like these winter boots but they are the most unyielding uncomfortable boot I have ever put on. I didn’t make it very far before realizing these look and feel like hard plastic, so stiff! I have an older pair of boots by same maker that are waterproof with the winter lining but they are great to wear. I needed a new pair in a half size larger as I’ve switched up a few things to be able to increase my mileage and comfort. Out of the box NO. Literally like wearing a hard plastic bowl on your feet.
Solid boot very comfortable. I do recommend going down at least 1/2 size. The boot tends to run large throughout the boot and in particular the toe box.
It is a very good shoes for cold weather. Lightweight and really waterproof. It’s plenty warm that my feet actually sweated in a 20 degree weather while using a regular hiking socks. The only reason I gave it a 4-star is because of the fit. I can feel my feet wiggly inside because of its width. My feet are slim but if I use thicker socks to make the shoes feel snug, I will risk sweating and freeze my feet as a result, which actually happened while using regular hiking socks.
I was looking for a winter boot to basically wear with snowshoes, but also a boot that would be great for winter walking either on trails or roads. Already used to Salomon SpeedCross trail shoes, i decided to try a Salomon boot. The comfort, and fit was instantly felt upon trying them on. I love the fact that they are "roomy" and even though they are not considered a "wide" boot, they feel like they are. No cramped toes! The sizing tends to be on the large side, and i actually bought a full size smaller than what i usually buy. I have worn them numerous times as a walking boot, and also when snowshoeing. Would highly recommend and am VERY pleased with my purchase. True Salomon quality in terms of comfort, performance, fit.
I am so loyal to Salomon I love their wider toe box but for whatever reason I could not get these to break in in a comfortable way. I thought the tongue was too big it always flopped so far out no matter how I tied them
I needed a new pair of winter boots for a strenuous snowshoe hut trip. I really like my Salomon hiking sneakers so I opted for their winter boots. They did great! Fully waterproof and comfortable. I appreciated the ring at the bottom of the laces I was able to latch my gaitors onto. The top part of the boots has a little bit of fleece-like material for extra warmth. Like my hiking sneakers, I did size down a half-size from my usual 7.5 to a 7.
I am an avid 4 season hiker and have been wearing Salomon footwear exclusively for years. They are the most comfortable for my foot, the soles are super grippy, and I really like the quick lace system. These are my second pair of insulated winter boots from Salomon, I loved my first pair and wore them out over the years. These boots are great but have one fatal flaw: they aren't waterproof. After their first snowy hike in the Whites, my toes were soaked. Thankfully it wasn't too cold out but wet feet in winter isn't good. I gave them a second try yesterday in the snowy Catskills, and once again I came off the mountain with wet toes. I wore gaiters both times. This is the first time I've been disappointed with a Salomon product and am hoping for a refund as I think the shoes are defective.

I've been wearing these boots every day and doing a lot of snow walking. I normally wear women's 10.5 and even 11 in a hiking boot. The Salomon 9.5 fits with a little extra toe room. The size 9 was too tight. The boots have remained waterproof and comfortable. On icy snow they slip a bit more than I'd like. The only thing I don't like about this boot is the way the tongues gap at the top after I tie the boots. I remedy this by wearing gaiters to keep out snow, mud, and debris.
