Stiff Soles, Great traction

Really like these. The sole is stiffer than other shoes I've tried - like other reviewers have said, might be too stiff if you prefer feeling the shape of the ground under foot, but I've always had stiff hiking shoes and prefer it. For comparison, I also tried the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid wide, Salomon X Ultra 3 mid, Salomon Cross Hike mid, and Merrell MQM Flex 2. I found those soles to all be a little too squishy for my liking. My regular shoe size is 8.5 so I sized up to 9.5 for these boots. The 9.5 fit perfectly over my Smartwool light hiking socks at first, but after a 2 miles test hike things loosened up a bit and the sizing felt like it might be a tad too big. I think it should be fine with thicker socks though. My feet are on the wide side so I think this will work out better than sizing down to 9. If you have narrow feet or wear thin socks, you might want to only go up half a step up from your regular shoe size. For reference, the Ultra Raptor II Wide fit me really well, but Merrells generally don't work for me because they're too narrow. My test hike was a short but steep 2 miles on a dry day. The traction on these are excellent, surprisingly stable over loose rocks. In the first mile I mostly wished I had my trail runners on because it was more hot and rigid than necessary for this well-kept trail, but basically forgot about them during the last half of the hike. Like other reviewers have said of this shoe, you can see the glue at certain spots near the not-very-substantial toe cap which seems a little suss. Only time will tell if that becomes a problem or not.

Just what I needed for Iceland

Was very reluctant to purchase hiking boots online, but decided to try it. Needed a light weight sturdy hiking shoe that was somewhat waterproof for my Iceland trip. These boots did not disappoint. The fit was very good. I ordered a size larger than my normal shoe size to allow for thick wool hiking socks. Very happy with the results and I wore them pretty consistently walking. Kept my feet warm and dry!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second pair and as before flexible & comfortable out of the box , first Mountain no soreness or blisters . Rubber soles are fantastically grippy. Recommend half a size up from normal shoes to allow for thick socks. Would 100% recommend !!!

Best walking shoes

I was looking for the perfect walking shoes for a long time and they finally found me :) very comfortable and waterproof. I was afraid they would be too big, but size 8 fits me perfectly (although my standard size is 7.5)

Legit waterproof

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own a dog walking business in Seattle. I’ve gone through countless “waterproof” shoes and nothing has worked aside from hot, uncomfortable wellingtons. I walked all week in these shoes 6-8 hours a day in pouring down rain and my feet stayed dry the entire day- plus they’re super comfortable!! I did order a half size larger according to the reviews and they fit perfect. I am very very pleased with these shoes!!
