Nice fit, but not warm enough

I’ve had these gloves through two Colorado winters, and although I like the fit, feel, and dexterity, my fingertips tend to get cold even when the weather is only in the low 20’s. To be truly warm one would need to size up and add a liner glove, or be generating enough body heat through physical activity to make the insulation sufficient. Otherwise, well made and durable enough. Because of the insufficient finger insulation I can’t really recommend these for truly cold weather.

Warm and weatherproof

These are a great pair of gloves for certain outdoor activities where you need to keep your hands warm and dry. They're perfect for me for skiing, shoveling snow from my driveway, or a winter hike. They are lightweight and warm. These are not very dexterous--it is hard to open/close zippers or use your phone while wearing them--even though they are "touch screen" compatible. The liners are sown in, which means they won't move around on you. While this is a great feature, it means you can't wash them separately. The synch straps on the wrists are a nice feature--they keep snow from getting into your gloves or up your jacket sleeves.

Warm gloves

Outside for a one hour dog walk on a windy day in the low 20’s. Only thing missing is a leash (for the gloves, not the dog). Worked great. Kept my digits toasty. Bought late in the season so they will get very little use for the next few months.

Great for Big Hands!

We needed some ski gloves, and at first tried Ravine. But in spite of the size chart saying the XL would fit my husband's hand, the Ravine were way too small and XL was the largest. Thank goodness REI's Gauntlet gloves came in XXL. We ordered these at the very last minute before our ski trip to Snowshow, WV, and they came just in time and were great! We were at Snowshow for 4 days, and temps ranged from 7F-30F most of the weekend and my husband said his hands stayed warm and cozy in those temps. These are pretty much the only choice for men with big hands! Thank you, REI, for having XXL available!!

Warm but thick and bulky.

After a deep dive in researching ski gloves on several websites, I took the plunge and purchased the Gauntlet GTX Gloves 2.0 in size L. They had the features that I wanted at a good price point. I also like to support REI when possible. I would say that overall they are well constructed and quite warm and comfortable. The fit seems accurate. I used them on a recent ski trip to CO with temps ranging from 0-35 degrees. Over 30 degrees, they get warm and I kept taking them off in the lift lines to let my hands cool off. I cannot speak for temps below 0. The only real negative of the gloves is the thickness. They are really wide and padded. Fingers are really thick. This made it difficult to get my hand in and out of the ski straps and also get a solid grip on the poles. It took a little effort to close my grip, more than I would have thought. I like the gloves, but will probably look for another brand for more dexterity and keep these as a backup for the coldest of days.

Great gloves

These gloves are great. The three most important attributes of gloves is warmth, waterproof ness, and the liner staying in place when removed. These gloves accomplished all three. When you are sweating while skiing and your hands are slightly damp, many liners come out of the glove when removed from your hand. This makes it very difficult to put the glove back on your hand. These did not have this issue.

Spend the Xtra đź’°

Not happy with these gloves. I will be returning them and in return I will spend more money on a better pair. The palms are cracking, and in 35 degree weather my finger tips FREEZE. I only wore the gloves for 5 hours. 1 to 10 scale, I'm giving these a 3. The cost was $53.41.

Comfy and adjustable, but how do I clean them?

I like the generous gauntlet and the two straps for adjusting it to the right size. It seems like this will be great at keeping the wind out. The faux-leather on the palm and palm-side of the fingers and thumbs looks like it will be good for grip and for keeping snow from melting into my gloves. I'm not sure what the little triangle loop inside the gauntlet is for -- am I supposed to put my keys inside my glove? Oh, or maybe it's for hanging them up? As far as fit, the wrist size and the width of the hand and fingers feel comfortable, but the fingers are all about half an inch too long for my actual fingers. That's pretty much always my experience with gloves, though, so this is probably a pretty standard size. The fabric inside is soft and comfortable. But the lack of a removable liner gives me pause. When I'm skiing or snowshoeing, my hands sweat a LOT, so I like to be able to take the liners out of my gloves and wash them. The washing directions on these gloves say "Wipe clean with a damp cloth", which doesn't seem applicable to getting the insides sweaty, so I'm not sure how I'm meant to keep them from getting stinky. That said, these seem like an all around great glove for spending time outside when it's very cold and windy, as long as I'm not going to be sweating profusely.

Outstanding

Simply put, these are the best gloves I've ever owned. They're strong, comfortable and adjustable. The waterproofing is top notch and the fit and finish outstanding. Unlike a lot of gloves I've owned in the past, these are easy to adjust even while wearing them, go on and off easy and work well with my other equipment, namely my ski jacket. The two points of adjustment, one at the wrist and the other higher up on the forearm, allow for a lot of control and versatility. Really, nice gloves.

Great Gloves, Decent Price

I've used these gloves twice so far, for snowboarding and tubing. They worked great, keeping my hands dry and warm. At the end of the day when I was knocking back a few beers, my fingers got a little cold. It was in the low teens, dark, and I was inactive, so I won't hold that against they.
