Rubber sole great. Rest of shoe not as great.
Bought these on our trip recently. Good for grip and the rubber bottoms hold up well but the rest of the shoe is already looking quite beat up after only two months of wear by my active 4 year old. I thought Merrell would hold up really well but that was unfortunately not my experience with these. Bummed out.
Terrible shoe not for hiking
I bought these on a Sunday. Took my daughter on a hike two days later on a Tuesday and they were so beat up that when I took them back to the retailer where I bought them from They told me these are not hiking shoes and that's why they got so beat up. Terrible. And now I have a pair of shoes headed in the mail to me for myself that I'm going to return the second I get them. I'm not even going to try them on. Clearly this brand is not good quality.
Durable, toddler can put on by herself at 2 yr
Great quality shoe. Took a beating. I like how the tread is super sticky with all the ridges. They provide great traction compared to Nike and have a great foot bed for comfort. Held up enough, so I can hand them down to my 2nd born when she gets there. I just ordered 2nd pair of these a whole size too big for my now 3 year old in a (7.5). She affectionately calls them her purple shoes. I’m hoping she can get 2 years out of them!

Not as expected
Bought this for my son thinking it will last long time for him since it’s an outdoor brand. But the seems like kids shoes has lower quality. The color of the shoes was peeling and instead of blue shoes became black

Trekking and climbing
Sturdy shoe perfect for trekking anf rock scrambling with Grandma! Even took a few puddles and stayed dry!
Great sneakers!
Kids love these! I got them for my two girls from the easter bunny. They wear them to play outside and hike/boulder climb. Really great traction. I was concerned about the tongue bc it is rigid and I thought it would be uncomfortable. They haven't mentioned that though and it allows it to stay in place. I was so happy that they expanded the color options. My kids like bright colorful shoes and most of them only come in the big kid sizes. I would definitely get these again when they go up a size.
Did not hold up past 1.5 months
Purchased shoes for 4 y/o toddler and received Feb 1, by March 15 the top line collar was falling apart on left shoe. We have 3 kids and are fully aware of how much abuse kids shoes take, but these are the only ones that have deteriorated in a month and a half. Attempted to return to local REI, but was told it was normal wear and tear so not covered by their return policy. While I agree that it is a common area to wear in shoes, significant wear in 1.5 months of wearing every other day, is not normal. Disappointed with both Merrell and REI with this experience.
Great for 2.5 y.o. Hiker!
We are so glad to have found these little hikers after a lot of research for well-made, quality shoes for our toddler to hike and explore outdoors. They fit perfectly right out of the box with a little room to go (we purchased 7, although he's probably exactly 6.5 right now). He loves them, and I like how sturdy the treads and the structure around the ankle so he doesn't fall even on rocky terrain. We also love how simple they are to care for - washable, easy to dust off. Overall, while these shoes come at a higher price point than some basic finds, and I realize kids grow out of shoes fast, these are 100% worth it if you are an active family and and want actual quality!
My kids love them but already coming apart
I bought two pairs for my twins. They really like the shoes, but the elastic on one has already pulled out from the stitching after only a few weeks of wear. Seems like it could be a quality control issue or defective pair since I haven’t had this issue with the other pair. They really like them so it is too bad the quality is inconsistent.

this particular model is not good
We own many pairs of Merrell shoes and almost all of them are great. This particular model, however, was not good. From the start, the padding behind the heels were not properly secured. The heel padding inside shifted easily and quickly botched to a mess. This happened within the first 2 weeks. We took them back to the store for an exchange. BUT the second pair had the exact same problem within 2 weeks. None of our other Merrell shoes for both adults and kids had the same problem. We wear Merrells for over 15 years and this is the first pair that truly disappointed.
