Features

  • Compared to the Alto TR2 tent, the Alto TR2 Plus has a fabric inner tent to keep out cold drafts and a higher-specification waterproof floor for wetter ground conditions
  • Unique Tension Ridgeâ„¢ architecture with an inverted brow pole allows for extensive interior living space, increased ventilation and higher doors
  • The oversize Apex Vent™—positioned at the highest point of the tent—efficiently expels warm air to prevent condensation and can be zipped closed from inside the tent
  • Adjustable vents at the base of the tent allow you to control airflow and effectively manage humidity and condensation in wet conditions without letting the rain in
  • In wet conditions, set up the rainfly first to keep the inner tent and your gear dry; do the reverse when packing up
  • Rainfly can be rolled up to the Tension Ridge for stargazing, then deployed quickly and secured from inside the tent when needed
  • The Lightbarâ„¢ pole storage sack can be mounted at the tent peak; slide in a headlamp or 2 and its semi-rigid, translucent material delivers soft illumination to the whole tent
  • High tent doors allow for easy entry and exit, and better views of the outside when you're within
  • Machined aluminum clips—more durable than plastic—attach the pole to the inner foot with ease
  • 9 Ground Control Light tent stakes, made from 7075-T6 hardened aluminum, have a multi-notch design that helps you to attach the tent close to the ground, even in hard terrain
  • Adjustable peg-out points at each corner and on the doors give you flexibility for where you place your stakes
  • 4 Ground Control guylines can be attached or removed as needed with quick-connect V-toggles; easily control their length with integrated adjusters
  • The 3-piece, modular FairShare storage sack system allows you to easily split the load with a friend; after setup, the stuff sacks transform into gear storage pockets
  • The combination of DAC Featherlite NSL and Pressfit pole segments with varying diameters maximizes strength while minimizing weight
  • Optional accessories (not included): gear loft for additional storage; 2 footprint options

Love! It!

Camped twice in this amazing tent. Once in a rainstorm. Kept me completely dry. The setup video on the Sea to Summit site is awesome on how to pitch it properly and once you've watched it a few times, setup is super easy. Also, love the fact how packable it. And using the tent pole holder as light bar? That's a genius idea. Only grip is the ties for the fly door opening are not elastic like they are for tent doors.

Tears easily - not worth the risk or money

Do NOT purchase this item. While the weight is PERFECT, and the ability to separate the parts for easy carry is so helpful, it’s materials are too delicate for backpacking and tear very easily. Just got back from my first backpacking trip using this tent. I set it up on a partially sandy/partially rocky shore and about an hour after setting the tent up I noticed there were small holes in all four corners - like little punctures and pulling/tearing marks. I immediately checked the ground underneath the tent but found nothing particularly sharp or poky that would cause the damage (nothing out of the norm for any tent sent up). I would have been totally screwed had it rained on my trip- water would have easily seeped in from all corners of the tent. Unfortunately this tent is not reliable.

Very adaptable but durability might be an issue.

This tent is all about adaptability. You can set it up without the rain fly, with the fly first to keep your tent dry or even just the rain fly to use it as a sun shade. Other great details are the pole bag can be used as a light bar, the fly can be semi-setup to enjoy the stars but be ready for a late-night rain. The vertical walls provide a lot of head room even with the smaller footprint. The only knock was my daughter tripped on the lower support lines and it came detached from the tent.

Not what I was expecting

Took this on the first trip and we encounter some 20-30 MPH wind. Had extra guylines and ended up taking the tent down as I was afraid the whole thing was going to break. On the first night, it did keep me nice and cozy, but part of the door and by the head was flapping all night. On the second night, I ended up taking it down and staying with my friend. As I was taking it down part of the fabric that is stitched near the top zipper section started ripping. I contacted Sea To Summit to see if the door loops could be used as part of the extra guylines and this is what I got back. Unlike the guy-out points, the door loops are not aligned with the pole set of the tent. This means they will only add a small amount of wind stability. The Alto is not designed for use in high winds. Like other ultralight backpacking tents with near-vertical walls, it will only sustain a certain wind load before the tent pole set may sustain damage. An Alto should be guyed out in winds/wind gusts above 20 mph / 30kmh

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good tent, but it tears very easily so be careful.
