Perfect for backpacking! Tasty!
We got a few different brands to try- this is the number 1 pick in the same flavor! It turned out well when following directions. I would say “2 servings” is mildly off for an adult. Will definitely be trying other flavors!
Better than most
Fettuccine Alfredo is a favorite of mine... So much so that I'm wary of getting it when I eat out, because so many places ruin it. I wouldn't have tried this, but I had read good reviews. Honestly, it was better than what I've had at some restaurants! The chicken was the texture of chicken, if not especially tasty. The noodles were maybe a little overcooked, but not terribly so. The sauce tasted like Alfredo sauce. For something that you just add water to, stir, and wait, I was impressed! One note on servings... This says 2 servings on the package, but I ate the whole thing with no difficulty. It's not like you're likely to have bread and salad to go with it! (And whoever heard of two people eating out of the same pouch, anyway?)
Creamy and filling comfort for any activity
If you love noods this is for you! It's creamy, comforting, and fulfilling. Packed with lots of protein and calories to keep you going on the water, camping, climbing, biking, or whatever hobby you're doing. I took mine SUPing and it was the perfect lunch.
First Try and Repeat Buy
The first time I bought this, I didn't know what I was getting into. I wanted to taste test this during a camping trip before I hit the backpacking adventure. When I first tried this, I was so glad that I did! The flavors of eating this on a cold day/night is absolutely worth it! It was so good that I spilled the creamy water on myself as I tried drinking it from the bag. Definitely recommend it and will be buying more for future trips. Currently this is my "go-to without a fail" meal.
Delicious
I ate this for dinner after hiking 11 miles mostly uphill. My legs were cramping, my knees were buckling but I had to keep pushing to the area my wilderness permit allowed me to set up camp. After miles of hiking in these conditions I was not in a very good mood. When this was done cooking and I opened the bag… the smell alone washed away all the frustrations. I ate the whole bag and it put a kick back in my step and I went to sleep that night happy.
No other freeze dried meal comes close
Hands down my favorite of all freeze-dried backpacking meals. Nothing else comes close. I'll go five nights / 6 days out, and all I'll take for dinners are five of these. I used to make my own DIY meals because honestly I don't like most freeze dried. Nor the price of said freeze dried. But this one is now my default go-to so I don't even think about it anymore. Three nights? Three of these. Four nights? Four of these. You get the picture. For me, absolutely delicious. Plenty of chicken, taste is superb, texture is great. Never messed with my stomach, either. Definitely five stars.
Great Flavor
Can’t go wrong with this one. Wonderful flavor and the chicken and noodles have a great consistency. I always go back for this one without a doubt. It also has just the right amount of food for dinner.
My wife's favorite
Tried it. Loved it. Bought 10 more. One of them had very little cream sauce in it. I learned from you that you cook the dish ready to serve and THEN you freeze-dry it. So how did I get one with pasta and chicken but no sauce? I also tried Chicken and mashed potatoes. I really liked it. But tried another one recently and there was half the amount of potatoes in the separate pouch. I didn't realized it until I poured the hot water in. It made potato soup with chicken. I've been buying from you for about 25 years and this is the first time I have had bad experiences. FYI
GOATED
First of all, Mountain House is the best dehydrated food maker in the market. They are the most convenient, take the shortest amount of time to rehydrate, and taste the best. I went on a 40+ day road trip, much if it backcountry backpacking, and this Fettuccine Alfredo not only nourished my body but consoled my soul. Well done.
Favorite Mountain House Dinner
I always bring this meal for my last night of backpacking when I am super hungry. It is sooo good. That being said I usually bring some dried mushrooms (chanterelles last trip) and a spice kit to doctor it up. This last trip added cracked red pepper, oregano, an olive oil packet and some Parmesan cheese (on top after cooking) with a little extra water. I also had a chunk of some onion cheddar left from my lunches and threw that in to melt down. It was magnificent. This meal is so easy to modify and make a gourmet backpacking dinner!
