Perfect for what I was looking for...
Gotta say I'm really happy with these glasses. I was looking for a pair of suns to wear while skiing. On warmer days, I just cook wearing goggles. Sunglasses are so much more comfortable. This pair ticks all the boxes of what I was looking for: - Lenses that are comfortable for all day wear on the snow especially in full sun. - Frame temples that aren't overly thick, which puts pressure on my fat head when wearing a helmet. - Kinda cool style and design. Hey I need all the help I can get. I've worn these a few times now, and just spent full days bell-to-bell at Mammoth in full-on sunshine. No headache, nothing but comfort! Now it these suns could just improve my skiing even a little... ;)
nice build but too wide for XL-sized head
Looking for "glacier glasses" for mountain hiking, I tried a couple of versions of Julbo. These were fine for performance, but a little too wide making them slightly loose on my head (they'd work down if I hung my head and shook it). The very similar but slightly smaller Caminos worked (fit) better for me.
MIRROR COATING IS TOO DELICATE AND WIPES AWAY WHEN
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY -- The mirror coating on the outside of the lens is too delicate. I was wiping some dust with the microfiber cloth that came with these glasses. I was using some optical-grade lens cleaning solution. After rubbing (gently) the mirrored surface, I noticed that some of the mirrored finish had rubbed away. This is very bad, as I had paid $105 for these glasses.
Warning — if you have long hair, skip these
These sunglasses were exactly what I wanted for hikes in the desert. HOWEVER, every time I take them off, the rubbery coatings on the temples pull out several strands of hair — Ouch! These are probably great for people with short hair, but if you have long hair, give these a pass.
Great Value!
Used them on Mt. Shasta. Worked perfect. They did not fog or fall off. They fit just tight. Great price for glacier glasses!
Great, but Gone
I like these a lot for the 2 weeks I had them. Unfortunately, they slipped off my pack while hiking at Three Sisters Park. I guess the mountains have them now.
Good, but with one flaw.
These glasses do block more light than traditional lenses. The side piece is removable. My only concern is that they fall off when I bend over. I use them primarily for hiking and morning driving.
