Burn risk.
I ranked this at two stars for the following reasons: Safety, after pouring in boiling water for tea the handles were too hot to hold with bare fingers after only a minute. I expected the cup portion to become scorching hot because of the material but a handle should be isolated. The other issue is that they use a product information sticker right on the side of the cup, I bought two cups and one of the stickers came right off, the other left behind a bunch of adhesive I had to use removers on to clean off. I won't be returning these, but it definitely gave me some info for when I one day go to buy another cup or two to look for a different brand.
On the up and the cup
I just got this and must disagree with all its poor reviews! Tired of sipping bevvies out of my cooking pot, I searched for a cup that would nest into my system and be pleasant to drink from. The smaller Grayl filter slides perfectly into this cup with little wasted space, which was a relief because it’s the cheapest of the lightweight cups. I have no issue with burning my hands or lips, as I only bring the water to “just hot enough” to save fuel. At the right temp, my tea is decently hot to drink and this cup warms my hands nicely. The handle is great! Nests well in my hand. The sticker placement is annoying though, that is true.
110 g fuel can does NOT fit
Cup is perfect for backpacking. Light weight, sturdy, can be used on camp stove, folding handles are great. Contrary to "Features" claim, my MSR ISOPRO 110 g Net Wt. fuel canister does NOT fit inside the cup. And that was the main reason I chose this cup over others.
Put the sticker on the bottom
I’m giving it two starts because it’s so light and fits perfectly into my pot but whoever decided to package with a cheap sticker right where you put your mouth should be reprimanded. The amount of time I spent cleaning the sticker residue off is ridiculous.
Ultralight cups are the bomb
I needed an ultralight cup for boat in camping trips with my canoe. This cup is just the ticket and even has 1/4-2 cup measuring lines on th inside. The measuring indicators are great for more accurate results when cooking. Easy to drink out of as well
good for cold, useless for hot
The pros: - Holds liquid. - Handles are really snazzy and work well. The cons: - You burn your lip on the white hot rim when its holding hot liquid.
Simple and Priced Well
Boil cup, drink, use as a baby shovel- does the job for $15. Finger handles are great for my hand. Won't work with a glove unless you just pinch together but its small so I can't fault the cup. Worth the money for whiskey, coffee, tea or melting snow
Looks cool, not cool to the touch.
Bought this cup for coffee and hot drinks in general. Major flaw however... Copper is a very conductive metal. This means heat transfer will be much easier. The handle is copper. See where I'm going with this? For any hot application the cup becomes untouchable. This ruins the intent of a cup of this style (metal).
Terrible cup for any warm or hot liquids. Unusable
Absolutely terrible cup. The handle gets burning hot when the cup is filled with hot water, who would want this?!? Returned it after first use, and got the MSI plastic cup instead, 100x better.
Cup burns lips, liquid cools fast
I used this backpacking, and while lightweight, when filled with hot coffee or tea, the cup gets very hot, too hot to touch my lips to it, and the liquid inside does not stay hot for long. Seems most of the heat from the liquid transfers to the cup itself. Stopped using and got a plastic insulated mug instead.
