Real beef chunks, properly textured pasta

I don’t understand the bad reviews here. I’ve never had freeze dried food where the beef chunks shred like real beef. Following the directions, the pasta comes out perfectly cooked and textured. The sauce is also a great consistency with great flavor. Added bonus is light packaging that folds small.

Terrible

I try to take dehydrated meal reviews with a grain of salt as not everyone reviews for what my expectation is of dehydrated meals when I’m backpacking away from fresh food. However, the reviews on this one are correct. This is the worst one I’ve ever had. I tried it at home first prior to a long backpacking adventure. It steeped for the whole time (sea level so should be plenty of time) the meat was still dry and crunchy and the flavor was basically water with a hint of odd onion or garlic flavor. I added sour cream and pepper and it still tasted so bland and kind of off. I hate this because I really love the 1 serving meals. Would never buy again.

Bad

The only good thing is that there was not very much of it. Very bland and runny sauce. The noodles did not fully reconstitute after double the time specified. There was very little meat. As mentioned, the serving size was very small, not large enough for a meal. I like to cook just the one bag without all the sides. If you cook other things with your meal, then perhaps it would be enough.

Perfect

These negative reviews are sus. This is so good and I’m not a fan of most trail food. I do love mushrooms, and beef, and beef stroganoff and this rang my bell.

Not good...

Just tried this product last weekend on an overnight in the mountains - it tasted like water with noodles - extremely bland. The noodles were good size and hearty but the meal was not satisfying.

Not very good

The major flavor was onion powder. The remaining flavors were not very complex. The noodles are not freeze dried so the noodles are difficult to rehydrate well. It was edible but just barely.

I liked it

I’m an old guy post heart surgery. Most freeze-dried meals are very salty. This isn’t. I let it reconstitute for 15 minutes at 6,000’ and enjoyed the meal. I added a little pepper to spice it up. Adding herbs and salt, for those who complain of blandness, might be smart. I welcome low-salt.

awesome!!!

Just made this exactly how the directions explained. At first was slightly runny but thickened up quick. I added a touch of salt and flavor was great. For freeze dried beef pieces it was much more tender than others. Stir before you eat it and be sure to scrape the seams in the bottom to get all the seasoning mixed in.

Very bland

I wasn’t a fan of this. It didn’t rehydrate completely so some crunchy bits. VERY strong onion flavor but still bland overall. Needs salt. Watery with a slimy texture

Not enough flavor

I was happy to find a one serving meal but this one lacked flavor. Definitely needed salt. There are better beef stroganoff meals.
