Goal Zero  Lighthouse 600 Lantern & USB Power Hub

Took this lantern out for a 2 day camping trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the light output and how long it lasted on a charge. The first night, I turned it on full brightness and used both sides of the lantern. I quickly realized that I really only needed about half the brightness and that using only one side of the lantern was enough for our camp site. I was able to get 2 nights of light out of it this way and still had 50% battery life left. This lantern works great and is plenty bright. My only complaint is the charging cable that is attached to it. It’s simply too short and I wish it were longer.

This is review of the first model of the Lighthouse Lantern, used 1-2 times a year and otherwise kept in storage in a cool place. Most of the rubber surfaces (not the nobbly button or base) which I see on this new model as well, have turned quite sticky after a decade; it's take a lot of isopropyl alcohol (per customer service) and a lint free cloth to remove the stickiness. A bit disappointing for what should be a lifetime product, but otherwise good. Nice to see the newer models have a warm light compared to the original lanterns cold blue light.

Bought the Goal Zero lighthouse 400 at REI. Worked at First. Stored in kitchen cabinet for a year and failed to charge after a year when needed during hurricane Beryl. Found a flashlight and batteries more reliable and less expensive. I can charge my cell phone in my car. Got Zero Support from Goal Zero customer service. Guess that’s one of their goals as well.

I have had two of these. In time the switch went bad on both and they won't turn off.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how this product has such high ratings. This lamp has many great features, but the battery life is so pathetic, it is essentially useless. My Lighthouse barely gets an hour of light if I run it at full power (both front and back lamps lit at max power). I understand longer life can be had by running only half the lamp at reduced power, but that completely defeats the purpose when you are in a camping or power out situation and need more light. This thing is useless to me and I am now ditching it and will try a Coleman or other battery powered lamp. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with Goal Zero products. I have also purchased one of their solar panels, which I also found to be completely useless. I cannot recommend this brand under any circumstances.

Make sure to read the independent reviews online. Like mine, after working well for a few years, we found it suddenly stuck ON and it will NOT turn off. Company is aware of this and only offers a possible warranty. Check the Goal Zero review site for many who had this exact experience.

A thoughtfully-designed lantern/powerbank. Plusses: + it’s extremely bright, if you need that, but the dimmer works well + the “front-half-only” mode is useful when you don’t need to illuminate a whole campsite, just a particular task + the light it casts is a pleasantly warm yellow, instead of the harsher blue/daylight tones of other LED lanterns + if you run out of battery, it’s easy to give it a 10-20 minute charge by cranking the handle for a minute or two + works well as a battery bank The only thing that’s a little awkward on it is the short (but handily permanently attached) usb-a charging cable; I understand why it would be so short (it wraps around the lantern unobtrusively) but it sometimes needs a little jenga-ing when used with a usb charger on a longer car camping trip. But still! a really excellent little lantern.

Used this last summer for camping- no issues. Stored in a cool and dry place. Just pulled it out to charge for camping this week and after charging overnight, the battery life light is still only at one blue light (not 4)- thankfully still within the awesome REI return window so it’s going back.

I have had two of these lanterns fail within about a year of very mild use. The first one had a switch stuck on. The second won won't charge. Very disappointed with the quality of these. Please read reviews like mine before you purchase this. I replaced it with a product made by Coast. The Coast lantern, purchased the same price point, is a vastly superior product from a design and build quality standpoint. I certainly will not be buying any more Goal Zero products after this experience.

Had for 1 year, 6 months. Used lightly. Last camping trip it failed to charge. Now it’s an expensive paper weight. Poor warranty. I do not recommend.
