Cannot Recommend!
Fan split the first time I turned it on.
Super useful for medium to large pads
I bought this for a double Exped pad and it's a LOT faster to inflate with than the snozzle bag that came with the mattress. It has a really cool little cube shape to hit, and neat carry handle and will make a great tent light to hang from the ceiling if I end up using it for that. I really like that it has both a high speed fan/pump mode *and* a quiet fan/pump mode. I was concerned if I get into camp late at night and wanting to set up quietly but had a screaming loud electric pump. This thing is on quiet mode will be great and won't require me to "snozzle' over and over when I'm exhausted.
Flawed design / poor construction.
After less than a dozen uses, the fan blade has cracked where it attaches to the motor shaft.
WOW!
I wasn't 100% that this would work with the double size sleeping pad that I bought. I didn't even check it until an hour before my camping trip! It works perfectly and is SO impressive! I showed it to my camping buddies that had full size air mattresses, and they used it and were highly impressed. I like that it can also charge devices, making the price a bit more reasonable for the functionality and diversity. Strongly recommend this product and would buy again. You can't go wrong with this, or out of breath trying to inflate things.
Clever design!
The Widget packs a lot into a small device, making it worth bringing on any camping trip. The light works well and has 3 levels of brightness. It also serves as a phone/device charger. And, it's perfect for inflating my Exped MegaMat Duo! The pump has a "fast" and a "low noise" setting (nice for when you roll into camp late at night). It comes with 3 adapters so you can use it to inflate Exped or other mattresses. It even has a nice little handle for carrying or hanging it. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a battery level indicator. It would be nice to know when it's running low. Although, when it does run low, it will automatically stop charging a device in order to leave power for the light and pump. Overall, they've done a great job of cramming a lot of features into a small package!
Off switch failed to work on 2nd use
Seemed perfect. Light weight, charged quickly, relatively quiet pump. The light is a great touch. However, on the 2nd time I used it, the off switch failed to turn the fan off. Had to let it sit for 20 minutes or so on full speed and light on for the battery to drain. It will be going back.
The latest "must have" gadget!
I use an Exped Megamat Duo for car camping, and the thing is a pain to inflate with the Schnozzle inflation bag. This little device solves that. Attach it, turn it on, and let it run. It takes just a few minutes to fully inflate the mat and still has plenty of battery power to top it off as needed. I've only used the Widget on a couple of two-night camping trips, so I haven't even come close to testing the battery. It's small enough that I might even throw it in my backpack for backcountry trips.
Great till it broke
This was a great gadget all around. Perfect to inflate my exped duo, stoke the campfires, light up the camp kitchen. Then one night at a campground I first had trouble turning it on to inflate the sleeping pad, then it only came on at the slow speed so I had to wait more than double the time to inflate. Then the worst thing of all.....It wouldn't cut off. The noise was disturbing me and the neighbors so I had to bury it in the car the mask the noise while scared it might catch on fire.
Very Handy Camping Gadget
This sturdy little gadget is well worth it’s price and weight in performance, function and quality. Handle? Useful! Light works absolutely as stated. This little powerhouse blew up my (mismatched) sleeping pad like a champ, using my hand as an adapter, and quiet mode is another nice perk. Didn’t try charging anything, but considering that everything else meets and exceeds my expectations, I have no doubts about that. It’s maintained it’s charge for over 6 months in a drawer. The only option missing is a battery status indicator. A little bit pricey maybe, and maybe a mite heavy, but definitely it is worth brining with me whenever, wherever.
Tried two, 100% failure rate
My second one proved to be a failure too. First cracked the impeller on its second campout, replacement pump turned on, but wouldnt turn off. Had to listen to it for many hours. Great idea, but cheap Chinese implementation. Not worthy of REI. If you must try it, only buy from rei with their great return policy.
