Super Comfortable - Simple, Sleek, Beautiful
Love this bike! You can't feel the pedal assist engage at all. I tried like 7 different brands of ebike (including but not limited to specialized, rad, aventon, cannondale, etc) and this one was by far my favorite. Super comfortable, really intuitive, and runs beautifully. Highly recommend!
Really happy with this bike
The bike has been terrific to date. Comfortable, great range, powerful enough to help me get up steep hills. I bought this after an injury that prevented me from running, walking or going full-effort on bike rides. Now I'm healed up and still using this bike as my first choice. I like the geometry and flat foot configuration. Really comfortable. The internal gear hub is great- the shifting is a dream. The assist modes feels pretty natural. The disc brakes are reliable. I can now go out on the hills with my husband who is a serious cyclist. Just a note- the bike is smoother when you do not over-inflate the tires. I needed the very tall REI bike guy who assembled the bike to adjust the handle-bars, seating, brakes and hand grips for my smaller size. It was worth the effort. I did replace the seat to something I found more comfortable.
Great in town on bike path and gravel
I have had my Biik for about 3 weeks and was waiting for the right day to get started riding. I haven’t been on a bike for quite some time because my town is very hilly and it would exhaust me in the heat of the desert. I did a lot of research. Because of my age I was worried I couldn’t handle the heavier weight of an E bike. I also didn’t feel safe with a throttle and I was looking to get some exercise not just be riding a motorcycle. The townie go was my choice for all those reasons. It is so nice after only 1 ride today I rode about 4.5 miles. It is smooth to shift and the pedal assist is also so smooth I don’t realize it’s assisting. Not sure about the saddle yet as I may be just getting used to riding like sore muscles. The tires are fatter than my previous 10 speed and they go over bumps nicely because they’re softer. I didn’t use any battery it seems it was fully charged when I got back. All in all it handles really well and I know I’m gonna ride this bike frequently.
Very happy with this bike
I am a 5' 2 in woman and have a hard time finding bikes that feel comfortable. I have been riding it around a few months and really like this bike. I like the geometry of the bike; it's very comfortable and the seat is the most comfortable seat I've ever ridden on. It's easy to use and I like the thick tires on the city streets. It also has some very nice features, like built-in lights, the built in "cafe" lock for the back wheel, the internal gears, removable battery, and the rack. Definitely recommend. Makes biking fun even when you are going up hill.
Love it - except for fender
I rented one on vacation to try out e-bike for the first time. Recent knee surgery and still recovering and it was a very smooth and comfortable bike, easy to learn how to change speeds and gears, and easy on my knee, especially the step through design. I bought one when I got home and I love it - except the front fender rattles terribly, even on smooth surfaces. It only has one support bar for the front fender, although there's a spot on the wheel to add a second support bar, but no hole in the fender to attach it. I will be talking with my bike dealer about adding another support or what else can be done about the constant rattling. I feel like this is a design flaw.
Great bike, some cheap parts
I absolutely love this bike! However, some of the pieces are not good quality. I have had 3 things break just from hitting bumps while on a ride. A screw fell off on the rear fender, the piece of metal that holds the power line to the rear light fell off and my front light fell off. All pretty easy fixes for the most part, just really annoying given how expensive these bikes are, I would have expected better quality.
Rack is not approved for child seats!
The rack is not approved for child seats. I confirmed this with Electra Customer Support. Unofficially, people probably still put a seat directly on the stock rack. But if you're a rule-follower, you should be prepared to remove the stock rack and attach a rack approved for child seats. (It seems like a Topeak Baby Seat will work ONLY IF you buy the extended arms.) I wish it were easier to fit a child seat on this bike because it is so cute. That aside, the bike is beautiful and the ride is smooth. Nice mid drive motor so it doesn't have a jumpy pull like the Townie Go! 7D.
Great bike for around the neighborhood
Love this bike. I hadn’t worked out consistently or ridden in a couple years. I can now keep up with my husband. I am still able to get a w/o and elevate my heart rate but have fun while doing so. I live on miles of hard packed dirt roads with some gravel and it is stable on these surfaces as well as the pavement.
Natural feeling assist comfortable for around town
Have ridden this on 12 mile rides, ride it around town to go grocery shopping and have bought an MIK bike crate, grocery panniers for utility. The same keyed ABUS cafe lock and battery lock is very convenient. The Bosch Activeline plus is fine for around town - but if you are doing big hills, this might be underpowered. Torque numbers: TURBO: 50 SPORT: 45 TOUR: 40 ECO: 35. The 400Wh battery barely went down after only one bar after a 12 mile ride on varied gentle terrain. The assist feels very natural and smooth. The only thing I wish it had is a suspension fork, a more easily adjustable handlebar, and water bottle cage attachment screws. My husband and son have taken to riding my bike, the seat is easy to adjust and comfortable. All in all, I'm really enjoying it and is a nice cruiser. I highly prefer the mid-drive over the hub drive in case you need to change the tire and wouldn't use a throttle. It isn't overly heavy (for an non-high end e-bike) and we have transported it on our Thule T2, but I like to strap it down for extra security since it does have fenders (which view as critical for a around town bike).
Great cruiser
My wife and I bought two Townies. They are awesome bikes, top end components and timeless design. They are comfortable and easy to ride. The fact that they are class 1 requires you to pedal as apposed to just go for a ride on throttle. We get lots of looks and compliments on the way the bikes look.
