Petite Adults—BUY THIS!!!
I am a 5’3’’, 120 lb adult woman who just took this sleeping bag on a 10 day backpacking trip in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. Even though the nights were in the 30s, I often found that I was warm and toasty in this bag with only shorts and a sweater on. It also unzips almost all the way for warmer nights. I never felt like the bag was too small for me when using it, and anything else this warm that packs down to the size and weight of this would be at least twice the price. I will be using this sleeping bag forever—it’s incredible.

Warm bag
Warm sleeping bad. I’ve used in 40 degree and in 30s, was warm both times, more hot obviously in the 40s. I used a lightweight liner to keep it clean . I like that it has a slot for pillow to keep it in place. I wish the zipper was on both sides though, just so if there’s uneven ground which causes me to have to be on opposite side of tent, I can get in and out easier( happened last week). The zipper comes undone a lot but easy to put back together. For warmth it’s good. I did feel a draft initially on top in an area that has no down in it and it was not the thermo gills. Once my body heat ramped up it wasn’t an issue. Space wise it’s perfect and much better than standard mummy shape. Oddly my husbands Nemo disco compresses down smaller, but I just put it in a dry bag outside my back since it takes up most of my 60L pack..

Customer Service Superhero

This was purchased for my daughter, who at age 17 & 5 feet tall can take advantage of the lower price point found in children’s bags. On previous backpacking trips she has been cold (July in Michigan), so we were looking for a warmer but still lightweight bag. My daughter carries a 40 liter backpack, so we are always looking at weight/size. We found this one during REI’s last big sale, and it met all our requirements: warm, packs small, and inexpensive! It wasn’t easy to get; by the time I had it in my cart, it was already sold out. Bless customer service; they scoured inventory around the country, found the bag, and had it shipped to my house without additional cost. She likes it.

Warm in low 30’s!!

My 9 year old daughter just used this bag for the first time on a backpacking trip where the temperature dropped into the low 30’s. This bag was worth the cost! Her sleep pad failed (wouldn’t stay inflated) so I was very worried she would be cold but this bag kept her warm even without the sleeping pad being inflated. I’m very pleased!!! It also packed down small enough into the base of a 30L daypack with plenty of room to spare. I believe it could pack even smaller with a smaller compression sack.

Comfortable below 30 degrees!

We just got back from a late fall backpacking trip in Henry Coe. We were expecting temperatures in the low 30s but ended up spending a very cold and damp night in the bottom of a canyon, where it dropped well below freezing - likely in the mid to upper 20s, since we not only got frost, but had water freeze to our cups and other metal stuff left outside the tent. Our kid (almost 8) was wearing their long underwear top and bottoms (HH wool blend), a hat, and socks, and slept on the outside edge of our 3-person mesh tent. We didn't pitch the rain fly and they were totally comfortable! I was worried they'd get cold since my bag is rated to 15 and their dad's is a 17, but this bag kept them toasty warm all night, even though the temperatures inside the tent were below freezing. The bag packs down very well, too - we use an 8-liter compression sack and it fits perfectly. For a smaller child, it helps to either cinch up the foot end with a rubber band, or pack it with jackets and the next day's clothes, to reduce dead air space.

Kept toddlers warm in 30s

Purchased 2 for a 2 and 4 year old. Both are roughly around 3ft. Kept them warm in low 40s / high 30s without cinching off excess length of bag or folding it under them. Used only for car camping but very light and packable. Comparable in weight and volume to my Western Mountaineering bag.

Not for the Scentsitive

Super puffy, fluffy, comfortable and warm down sleeping bag that smells like a wet dog right out of the package. Funny story though. We bought this bag in May for our niece's first camping trip over Memorial Day weekend. We unpackaged it and noticed an animal smell so we hung it up to let it air out before the trip. While on the trip, our niece goes into the tent and takes a big inhale and sighs, "Ahhh, Auntie, it smells like Charlie in here." Charlie is her golden retriever at home who has never been near our camping gear. In fact none of our gear has been near a dog but that's what this Kid's Down Time smells like. Wet dog. But it's comfy and warm. And keeps my niece from being homesick so maybe next time, we'll just pack Vick's VapoRub for under our noses.

Great sleeping bag

We used these for backpacking with our kids ages 5, 7, 9. It was cold and wet when we went in March in the Olympic peninsula, all 3 kids stayed nice and toasty in these bags. They pack up great, very happy with this purchase!

Only for hot sleepers

I am a 5'1, 106lb adult female. I bought this bag because I'm short enough to fit into the youth size and thought it would be perfect for my backpacking trips around Yosemite & Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, it has always done me dirty, and I have frozen on almost every backpacking trip I've taken it on, even with my extra thick Sea to Summit fleece bag liner. I do normally sleep pretty cold, and most of the trips I've taken it on have been around 40 degrees. If you also sleep cold, I would recommend you go with something warmer.

Down sleeping bag for kids at a reasonable price

Picked this up for a five-day backpacking trip at Mt. Rainier NP for my 11-year old. Size range and warmth were just right for him. 650 FW down packs relatively small, and lightweight enough for him for a multiday backpack trip. We got everything we were looking for in this sleeping bag at a very reasonable price. We also picked up an REI compression sack to minimize the volume in his pack.
