Purchased my Rangefinder a little under a year ago. I've put roughly 125 miles on it being a casual but progressive rider. I've seen my skill level increase greatly in all aspects with this bike. This bike gives me greater confidence out on the trail. I will say this is by far the most expensive bike I've owned, so keep that in mind. The majority of my riding is on flow type trails, with some climbing. Features of this bike that I've enjoyed would be the dropper post, Maxxis tires, and a trustworthy drivetrain. I plan on having the suspension serviced soon. I would say that while I really do like this bike, my skill level increasing does make me wish I would've got a full suspension Salsa.
Love this bike. Great components make it great for climbing. It is an extremely comfortable bike for me. I use it daily on road and light technical trail riding
Solid well-built hard tail trail bike that suits me perfectly. With about 15hrs on the bike so far, everything still feels in good order. Note the handlebars have a wide sweep which suits me, but maybe not for everyone; and bike is a little heavy compared to other options in this category, but for the price (bought in sale) I'm super happy with it!
Bike is very under spec’d for what it costs. There are much better options out there. Plastic everything and comes with missing crank spacers.. the fork is the same fork you’d get on a Walmart Kent Truevelle bike that costs $300… not sure where the price is coming from.. I’m glad they took a return NQA.
Overall I like the bike, but it has some flaws. The first is the fact that I can't get the handlebars to align with the front wheel and fork. I'm not sure if the fork came bent or if the bike mechanics put it together wrong. The other is the shifting is extremely noisy and rough. It jumps in and out of gear from time to time. Keep in mind that I have only been on flat rides so far. Since there are no hills to strain the shifting this problem will likely get worse. Finally the bike has plenty of gears for climbing, which makes it slow on flat ground. What I like is that it is comfortable to ride and the orange is an awsome color. I think that most of the problems with the bike could be fixed with proper adjustments. It's ashame that Virginia Beach REI is unable to complete theese adjustments do to lack of skill and customer service. When I asked them to adjust the seat they told me they couldn't because it would mess up the cable to the dropper post. I have since moved the seat up three inches or more and everything still works fine. The mechanics at this store treated me like I didn’t know anything and basically refused to adjust anything. I included the information about the store because it may be the cause for many of the faults I have with the bike. The other concern is that I reached out to Salsa for help in these matters and have yet to hear back from them. This doesn't build confidence for any warranty claims if the bike breaks.
Great ride. Comfortable. I would recommend to beginners
Perfect on Mountains but if you get on roads to get back home, it’s a little heavy and tires are too fat!
Solid bike. Good to fair value for money spent. Orange color isn't really close to what's pictured.
