Overall good, but some quality issues
I was looking for my kid's 20" mountain bike and chose this model against the Co-Op brand one. The MSRP of this bike is higher than Co-Op but more discount, so I assume it has better build quality than Co-Op. The bike is lightweight and looks good. But it has some quality issues. 1) The bike has only "right-side" rear-facing reflectors, so looking at it from behind looks strange. I thought this was a simple mistake, so I contacted REI and the manufacturer, and they said this is what it is. They suggested installing the reflectors in this weird way. 2) The side of the rubber handle grip is super soft and easily broken for about one month of usage. I can see the circular metal inside the grip. I contacted the manufacturers multiple times to get the replacement grip, but I still await responses. 3) A brake cable housing has fallen apart (inside metal cable exposed) because it had been tightly installed around the head tube (twisted). Whenever using the brake, it will receive lots of tension because of this. I feared this brake cable would eventually fail (e.g., rust). I suspected the brake cable was faulty or installed incorrectly, but REI said this was wear and tear. Still, I don't understand how this "wear and tear" can happen for about one month of usage. I would tolerate issues 1) and 2), but couldn't do so for issues 3). I then bought the Co-Op brand one, which now has MUCH better build quality than this one.
Great little bike for mtb!
This has been a great little bike for my kids. We chose it specifically because the handle bar shifter was much easier to twist than comparable bikes. My average-height six year old rides it now (older child rode it last season).
