Does the job; good for multiple purposes
These straps are simple and easy to use. They do come one to a “pack”, so you will need to order two to transport skis. I received a bright green color, which is easy to identify. The straps easily adjust with a metal prong, which is quite durable and sturdy. There are many, many notches, which allow a great range of fit adjustment. A loop enables the excess tail of the strap to be secured so that it is out of the way during transport. I’m happy with these straps; they perform well.
Straps do what they should
The BD ski straps work well. The plastic is grippy, so they don't slide around, even without torquing them down. The 20" version does all that I need - for strapping skis, for attaching my saw to a pack, or carrying outsized items. The way their designed was counter intuitive to me at first. Note the picture of how they wrap through the opening - and then the little collar is used to keep the tail from flapping. The strap may unhook if it's not tied down. This posed problems for threading the straps through the pack eyelets - I couldn't get the collar through the pack eyelet to hold down the tail. For what I want, the shorter straps are plenty. @rei #reiproductadvisors! I received the product in exchange for an honest review.
Carrying skis and poles so much easier
I used two 20 inch long Black Diamond Ski Straps to secure my skis while in my ski bag for a flight to Colorado and also while going to/from the ski slopes daily. These straps are pliable and easy to pull around the skis, and with a loop catch, the free strap end stays secure. I really like that the 20 inch length secures both my poles and skis – so nice not having to deal with poles in one hand and skis over my shoulder. Straps are small enough they fit in my jacket pocket during the day and the bright green color is easy to see.
Multi-use but not intuitive
This strap is incredible not just for skis but for biking, hiking, travel and more. But the use of the strap is not intuitive at first and a QR code linking the tag to a video or even photos would be helpful. I used the strap for skis, attaching bikes on my car rack, and keeping my backpack attached to my luggage.
Great for managing gear
These straps are really good for managing a bunch of gear. These straps are very similar to Voile or Titan straps. I've used the usual velcro ski straps that wrap between and around one's skis for many years. The velcro hold one's skis together nicely, but they don't help as much when one has a bunch of gear. These straps are specially helpful when one is carrying skis and poles for family members. One can easily wrap the straps around a pair of skis and poles together. these straps make it pretty easy to carry 2 pairs of skis and poles, and about bag up from the parking lot to the lifts. The only draw back I can see is that the manner of engaging the strap into the hook is a little less intuitive than with Voile and Titan. I've found myself flipping the strap over more than once.
Great for storage or carrying skis
Lightweight and durable, seems like they will last for years. Love the color, super easy to find at the bottom of a bag or in a pile of clothes. I was hesitant with how long the strap i, but having the little slot to double back the extra length is a nice feature to get it out of the way.
Solid ski/board straps
The black diamond ski straps are high-quality and useful. The bright green color make them easy to find when you’re rummaging around in your pack. The material is supple and durable even around sharp edges on skis and boards. Ski strap design is awesome to be able to cinch tightly on what you are wrapping, and then secure it for max hold. These are incredibly useful and versatile too. Great for A frame backpack carries, keeping your skis and poles nicely bundled, or really a ton of things not related to snow sports. The 20 inch version is a bit long for standard ski applications, but I like the extra versatility, and the tail tucks nicely when fastened at any length. Recommend!
Not a fan
I wanted to lilke this strap, but I just couldn't trust it. The first thing that happened was that the rubber piece that you thread the strap through came off. I imagined being in the back country and losing that small piece of rubber. I next tried strapping my skis to my car, but I just didn't trust the tension created with the buckle to feel like I could fly down the freeway. I'll stick with REI velcro straps for holding my skies together.
Must have piece of gear with multiple uses
These straps are awesome! I most recently used them for strapping gear to my bike on bike packing trip, but they are versatile and great for so many jobs. I’ve use them for everything from strapping multiple tubes of fly rods together to store neatly in the rafters of my garage to strapping my skis together for the walk from the car to the lift. They are secure and easy to strap down or release with one hand and are super durable. I store a few in my car and with the rest of my gear ai that I always have them around for the odd job.
Broken strap
The strap works well for pack carries, but when I used this strap to secure my skis for air travel (inside a ski bag), it broke! I unzipped the bag to find the strap had ripped apart near the buckle.
