If i had seen the two most recent reviews (They were posted after I ordered), i might have reconsidered. This chair is certainly comfortable, but what isn't mention in the description is that it is HUGE. If you are below 5'8 or so, you might find this chair too tall and your legs might dangle. If you have limited space for car camping, this takes up much more space than a typical folding camp chair. I think i will keep it since it was pretty inexpensive, but I can't believe how big it is. It seems like it was designed for people 6' and up. It would be a great chair for taller and larger folks who do not always fit comfortable in other chairs. Feels extremely sturdy.
Have had less than 3 months, light use. Edge/trim stitching is fraying and disintegrating. I am not near a store so my only option to potentially get compensation was to ship the chair back to REI for them to inspect and decide if it warrants refund or replacement. Way too expensive for the quality. So I am stuck with it. I have purchased versions of this chair previously as well as the kickback rocker. I needed a replacement but I think the latest versions (2025) are not the same quality and the price just keeps going up to a beyond-ridiculous level. Frustrating. Do not buy if you’re not near a store.
more comfortable than standard saggy travel chairs. I like it for reading and hanging out. The bag design needs improvement. Ridiculously large label doesn't tear off and when I cut it off the seam ripped even though I left a margin. Overall durability remains to be seen but for now I like it.
Bought for attending outdoor events so I wasn't concerned about it being super small/light packed, but at a verified 8lbs, it's still lighter than a lot of similar chairs. Good for its size actually, which is larger than most. Seat height is higher than average as well, which is good for visibility in a crowd or if you just don't want to sit really low like many similar chairs position you. That means the length of the carry bag is longer, so it takes a bit more room in the car but isn't any harder to carry. Phone/drink pockets are handy and the armrests are comfy. Too early to say on durability, but so far so good. I'd prefer a touch more recline, thus the missing star.
A very comfortable chair but there is definitely something wrong in the design. It doesn't open easily and after awhile wouldn't open at all; some strange angular pieces that don't turn properly for opening. Then today one of the seat bars, in trying to open it, simply snapped in two.
This chair is perfect for tall folks (I'm 5'11"). This chair has the depth to support the full length of your thigh and, with the slight angle up of the chair seat, allows a perfect 90 degree angle bend at the knees. In other words, one is not sitting down by the ground with legs extended out front. This is a much more comfortable sitting position for me and removes stress from the hip joints. Folds and packs easily, not take up too much packing space. I love it! I will say that my husband (5'8") finds it too tall to comfortably sit with feet flat on the ground. He has a different REI chair that fits him perfectly.
This chair gets 6 stars for comfort. It's unlike the uber-common folding camp chairs in that it has a taught seat pan. It's easy to get in/out of, is upright, and also comfortable. You don't sit *in* it, you sit on it. As mentioned in other reviews, the bag's a little thin and prone to wear. Also, it's a little big (long) when stowed. My biggest gripe, however, is the quality of the folding mechanism. There's a component underneath the user's elbow that slides along the front legs when collapsing the chair. That component binds easily and, if forced, will deform. If you're aware of this issue, the friction surface can be lubricated or with care, the chair can be coaxed to close. I'm now aware but, I've got a broken chair on my hands
The chair is super comfortable to sit in especially for someone who is a little taller and if you like a stiffer chair. My wife is 54 and doesn’t like it because it’s too tall for her. But the problem is it’s super stiff and doesn’t set up or collapse easy. I had the chair for less than a year and it became the almost impossible and finally one of the two I bought broke. In hindsight I should’ve sprayed a bunch of lube on them to help with the issue. But I don’t feel like a chair shouldn’t be that much work especially when it’s new. I’ve had $9.99 chairs that last me 10 years and I was hoping this one would be a great replacement for those but that is not the case. Hopefully the information about lubricant will help others. Good luck. I am moving on to a different chair.
I bought two and they lasted less than one year (used 10-12 times). They look nice, fabric seems durable, but after a few uses the legs were really hard to open. It took a full 5 minutes to pry each chair chairs open last few times I used them & I eventually broke one and damaged a plastic guide on the other. Plus, the carrying case is paper thin and one tore the first time I used the chair. I have several chairs from other manufacturers that are 5+ years old, used and care for same as these & working perfectly fine.
I've been looking for a comfortable camp chair for years. This is perfect because it opens with a straight supportive back instead of the metal bars that hold the fabric pushing my shoulders forward. My husband and I are 6'2" and 6' and appreciate the high seat on this chair, so that our knees aren't higher than our hips when sitting. If you're looking for chairs to take car camping, know that these are bigger when in the bag than some other camp chairs. I can't speak to the durability since we've only had them for two months, but so far have had no issues.
