Works for me
Tried this out this weekend on a hike in Southern California. Since I hike solo mostly, I worry about safety from wild animals. Gave this a toot every 5 minutes or so when I hadn't seen anyone else on the trail (the idea is to make sure animals know you are coming and run away, or so the experts say). Makes a really loud noise, have to hold it away from me while using. Didn't see any big animals, so can't say whether it works specifically when you see one. Keep in mind you may need a couple of them. Can says one can produces 50 1/4 second blasts. I think in a 4 hour hike I may have used most of it. Will buy more cans in the future. It's very light; will be easy to carry an extra one in pack. The safety tab worked for me; I found it easy to disable.

Black bear unphased...
So there I was, sleeping in my hammock near Yosemite. Just had my lunch, beautiful warm day, decided to take nap with a great view of El Capitan. I must have been out for 40 min, until I heard someone off in the distance exclaim, "Bear?!" I popped my head out of my hammock and not 15 ft from me was a fairly large black bear, just walking, doing its thing. And here I was in a perfect hammock burrito. I rushed to grab my bear horn. Now, I know black bears are not aggressive towards humans, and I know this bear horn is meant to be used as a periodic warning as you hike to let bears know you're in the area as not to startle them on the trail. However, I thought a quick toot of this bad boy would at least scare the bear off from getting too curious about my lunch crumbs. So I let it rip once, and this guy was totally unphased. I blew it again, and still nothing. Finally he walked off, but I don't think the horn had anything to do with that. So if you're looking for an alternative to bear spray to protect you while you're enjoying your hammock lunch in the Rockies, this isn't it.

A good product for hikers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent this product for free from both Influenster and SABRE in exchange for my honest review. This frontiersman bear horn is ideal for hikers who hike in areas with bears. Also here in California sometimes outside your home there's bears. Ha. It's a portable device and is easy to carry. It has a hole that you can put a clip on. There's a good amount of instructions on the back of how to use it. It has a locking feature which is great. It states there are up to 60 1/4 of a second bursts or up to 25 1/2 second bursts. It's just as loud as it states. (130dB audible up to 1/2 a mile). You should sound the alarm every half mile to alert bears. This isn't made to scare bears. Startling bears can make them attack. This product is for safety. Preventable safety. I'd recommend it to all looking to keep themselves safe while hiking.

Tiny but mighty!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] WOWWW! This tiny can packs a punch!! I was actually excited to receive this from Sabre and Influenster to review because we live near the mountains and go into wilderness situations thruout the year. Also I’ve heard a lot of people use them at graduations and sports events. We use it more for hiking situations and being in bear and mountain lion country, it’s a huge help in case you run into a situation where you’ll need to try and scare them away. It’s loud and hopefully deters any drama from any predators. Took it along on a Tahoe trip but fortunately didn’t need to use it. Good to have for security tho.

Small but mighty!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very loud and effective in a small horn! Definitely highly recommend and doesn’t just help to scare off bears. Especially being a female now I keep this in my purse just in case I need it. This world is not a safe place but this horn helps me feel a little more secure. Definitely will look into more Sabre products. This bear horn is truly amazing product to have.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was pretty simple to figure out, although I did go on YouTube just to be sure how to use it beforehand. This fits nicely in your hand as it is very compact, yet quite effective. I could see having this in a small sachet on a hike. This has a simple lock/unlock feature to avoid accidental discharge. All you do is turn it to the unlock position and give it a tap. DO NOT HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN unless you want to run out of the propeller air, which is what makes it work. A simple tap is all you need and it is quite LOUD! I was startled as I didn't expect it to be so loud, but it proved effective. I would definitely recommend if you are in the market for a bear horn or even a horn to ward off a creepy stranger!

Not what I expected but still good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't really know how to write a review for this because if it works you'll never know. I initially thought this was to scare away a bear if I saw one, but it's actually to let them know I'm in the area and keep them away from me. You're supposed to periodically blow the horn for a few seconds. As someone who loves camping and hiking, this is good to have on hand and it's pretty small so it's not a pain to throw it in a backpack. I haven't actually used it yet so I don't know how loud it is, but I'll report back when I do.

Stay safe and warn bears

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Frontiersman Bear Horn made by Sabre Frontiersman complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest feedback. If you are going hiking in the woods or mountains you can use this bear horn to stay safe and warn bears that you are in the area and to stay away. So if you like camping or hiking in the wilderness I suggest to take a can of bear spray along with you.

Great product to take camping!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free in exchange for my honest review. The animal in my photos is my “bear” ❤️ haha. No but to be serious, we go camping numerous times throughout the year and especially over summer so this product will be perfect for safety and alerting the bears in a non harmful way. The horn is LOUD! So it will definitely have the desired effect.

Bears Beware!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't generally travel in bear infested areas but just researching this item, I found I can use for lots of other things. I did blast it on the baseball field by the park we walk at and Wow! I got some looks. So I think this will work when I am out on that mountain trail against mountain lions and the human sort of predator as well. Good item for safety.
