The instructions need updating, but the product is great
I'd love to see BD make an instructional video on fitting/cutting these. The package came with 2 different instructions, one was just for the ski skins, not the splitboard skins, and the other was even more generic but still not for the splitboard. And they had some notable differences, like the gap size recommended. I knew what to do already, but it was fun to compare them. Either way, the product works perfectly and it is my 3rd set of skins from BD. I did a 10 mile tour in them last weekend and they performed well. Would totally recommend to anyone. But yeah some clearer instructionals would maybe help newer folks.
Worst directions and setup ever
I rarely write reviews. But i've used these once and already both nose clips broke and hardware from both tailclips have been lost. The instructions may have cost years off my life (but don't worry, I'm sure it's all my fault!) and all the torx screws were stripped by the time i got it about 10% of the way on. How do you strip torx screw? Don't know, but i stripped all six. I emailed manufacturer, but no dice. Also the glue already was done by the end of the first ride. So no bueno all around.
The BEST Skins
These have been awesome skins. I purchased these for my new splitboard this season and they have been perfect. For reference I have 20+ backcountry days on them. They hold well on steep slopes, they glide smoothly, and the glue that sticks to the board is superb. I have easily been able to run 3 laps with wet skins and they still stick well. Watching others in my group slipping and having skins that do not stick well, I am incredibly happy with my purchase. I have recommended them to everyone I ride with and a few have purchased and love them!

Work well. Tough to put together.
Maybe I’m dumb, but it took me a couple hours and several different YouTube videos to assemble these skins. I also needed to buy a new screw driver head because the included “screwdriver” is completely useless. Now that I’ve finally put these things together they seem like they’re working great! I’ve been out on them 3 times for a couple miles each. They climb well and stick great to my splitboard. Hopefully black diamond can iron out the assembly process in future generations of this skin. Because otherwise I like them a lot.
Missing pieces, can't set up
These skins are impossible to set up. First off, they only came with 2 metal clips for the tail when there are supposed to be 4 so it's missing pieces. Second, the toe loop screws don't fit into the holes meant for them. I thought maybe I was having trouble screwing them through the skin but the screws don't go more than halfway down even without a skin. This product with insisting pieces and screws thay don't fit are quite the ripoff. I should have misfitting and plain missing pieces for this much money.
More Grip Please
This is my second pair of Black Diamond skins. My first pair had longer hairs (pile?) and gripped better. This new pair glides nicely but doesn't grip as well on the uphill. I'd rather have better grip so these just get 4/5 stars from me. I do however really like the nose and tail clips. They're solid. Forewarning, initial set up is tricky and forget using the cheap allen wrench that is included when fitting the nose clips. I had to use my electric drill to do the job.

So far so good
I've never had a splitboard before and I've certainly never cut skins before. Quite the pain if I'm honest, but made slightly easier with the cutting tool provided by Black Diamond with these skins. Once I finally did get them cut properly, get the tip loops attached, and tried them out on snow, they were great. Lots of grip, lots of glide, but EXTREMLY sticky glue the first couple of peels. I'm sure I will come to appreciate that later on but now its a little obnoxious. 4 stars because the breakway screws in the tip loops don't feel great. They're not easy to get a clean break, and I had one sticking out extra far that I had to then sand down with my dremel to get it as flush as the other screws on that skin. Overall a good first skin that I would recommend, but let someone help you with a first skin cutting.

Glue sticking to the skin savers!
Got these skins late in the 19/20 season and they did as expected. Not much glide, but good stick, as you'd expect from nylon. The low rating is because after storing (properly, mind you), the glue came off with the skin savers!! I pull them out for the 20/21 season and big blocks of glue came right off the skins and was left on the friggin' skin savers. Pretty disappointing to only get one season out of these - would not recommend.
Pomoca/Kohla is simply better.
Long time BD fan here however these are the worst skins on the market. Glue is tacky and likes to peel after a while. Building the clip sounds fun but is a pain. Protective paper tears and stays on skins when removing for cutting procedure. Would never recommend these to anybody. I've cut dozens of pairs of these skins and can not stress enough how much better other companies are doing for splitboarding skins.
I already hate them
Very poorly designed tail straps. Clips won’t “lock” into the slots on the strap so you can pull the strap right off the clips when they’re attached to the board. The straps are really stiff and difficult to stretch even without gloves on. The toe clips were a pain to install. I think I can jury rig these to work but I shouldn’t have to. They came with my Cardiff so I’m stuck with them.
