Sizing Notes
Please note, this sizing chart is meant to serve only as a guideline.
Sizing downhill poles: Stand in your ski boots on a level floor. With your poles upside down—grips touching the floor—grab the pole beneath the basket so that the top of your thumb touches the basket. Your elbow should now be at a 90-degree angle. If the angle is less than 90 degrees, get a shorter pole. If the angle is greater, get a longer pole.
Sizing XC poles: Stand in your XC ski boots on a level floor. Place the pole tips on the floor next to your feet. The top of the grips should reach your arm pits.
Sizing skate poles: Stand in your skate boots on a level floor. Place pole tips on the ground with the pole shafts perpendicular to the floor. The poles should reach from the ground up to a point somewhere between your chin and your lips.

Amazing Poles! (ignore glove strap size comments)
These poles are fantastic--lighter weight, good quality, and easy to use click system. My partner has been using these poles for a year and love them, so I've decided to buy a pair myself. The click system makes XC skiing so much easier, as the loose strap version don't hold in place well and lead to more hand discomfort/blisters. Love these, and will gladly recommend to anyone! Regarding the glove strap size, note that Salomon has fixed the issue. Previously they issued S/M sized glove straps, whereas now they provide XL glove straps. Do note you can always email Salomon and request a different glove strap size. We did that with our prior pair, and the straps shipped quickly without question.
Did Somone Mention The Straps?
The only negative reviews I had read when I ordered these poles were due to the straps. I was hoping that most people writing the bad reviews were just using the wrong king of gloves or mittens. I was wrong. The straps that came with my poles say they are a medium. Im an average guy with maybe slightly bigger hands. These straps barely fit my hand without a glove on. How can anything made to go over a glove barley fit my hand without a glove?? I would change my rating if Salomon would reach out and send me straps that fit but from reading other reviews it looks like Salomon just directs you to go buy different straps from other dealers. I looked on the Salomon website and the straps are $20 plus shipping so I will be returning these poles unless Salomon can send me different straps without charging me an additional cost for something that should be right to start with.
Pole snapped after only 9 uses!
I am new to XC skiing and was recommended to buy the R60 but the pole snapped near the top (where the top third meets the middle third) on just the 9th time I went skiing. I have not fallen on the poles and take great care of them (as this is an expensive sport and I want my equipment to last as long as possible). Feeling quite frustrated about this. I would not recommend this product.
Thank you for your time and your review. We will contact you internally because if this is due to a manufacturing defect, all our products will be covered under warranty. Our apologies for the situation, please expect an email regarding a warranty claim shortly.
Terrible Strap
While the poles seem to have great quality, the strap doesn’t even come close to fitting my hand. I wore very thin gloves and it didn’t matter.
Good except for small strap
Overall the poles are of really high quality construction. Love the click system for the straps this is really an awesome working feature. Like other reviewers the strap system is way too small for the general listed sizing. I have a large and my wife has medium which were tried at the store without gloves. Both are too small when wearing gloves, like to the point where a medium would likely only fit a youth. I will be giving my wife my large and then purchasing an XL for myself. Recommend to anyone to go one size up from what they would normally think.
Grip strap sizing is very small
I really liked the idea of the detachable grip strap, unfortunately, the strap (a large) is too small to fasten around my lightweight gloves. I tried to use it with a warmer glove on a very cold day and couldn't even get the glove into the strap. I wear a Medium or large glove, but my guess is I'd have to be XS/S to use the grip strap that came with this pole. My guess is the XXL grip strap would fit my hand, but that's a special order item. Salomon needs to revisit how they size this grip and start putting larger sizes on the poles they're selling.

Great grip and sizing for small hands
I was slightly hesitant about buying these given the reviews on the straps, but with limited selection I bought them anyways. The straps fit me perfectly! I have smaller hands, female and 5-6, and the straps with the grip on these are great. I'm never worried about my hands slipping or losing my balance with these poles. They are very light weight and are probably the best ski equipment I've ever purchased. I'd recommend them to anyone with smaller hands, typically women, who are looking for light weight poles.
straps are too small!!
I'm unhappy with my XC poles (R60- 140cm). I love the pole but the straps are too small. The straps say they are size large but this doesn't make sense as I have medium sized hands and it hurts to use them (and straps come off too while skiing as too small). These poles were expensive so I expected the straps to fit properly!! I don't want to spend more money on larger straps when there seems to be a manufacturing error...

Great Upgrade
I am used to carbon, carbon composite poles so when I bent one of my aluminum poles it was time to upgrade. I’m typically a big Leki fan but I liked the strap and quick release design of these Salomon R60 Clicks better than the Leki. I’m 6’2” and went with the 155’s which are perfect for me. The swing balance and stiffness of the pole is perfect for me in that length and they are pretty light, good swing weight. I really like the strap system. The straps do have a size, they were XL on these so I think others problems with strap sizing is because they weren’t paying attention to that fact and got the wrong size strap. I have big hands (glove size XL) and with a typical Nordic weight glove the strap fit is excellent and I could put a heavier glove on in really cold conditions with no problem. Tip/basket configuration is best for groomed trails, unless the snow is pretty hard these are going to go deep with the small baskets. Power transfer is excellent, really comfortable strap that distributes load very well, the “click” quick release system works a charm and seems robust enough to last a good long time. Just a push on the top to release the strap, re-insert the tab and pull the finger trigger and you are back in. So when you click out your hands are free but you will have to take the strap off if you need to remove your gloves. Also be sure that the pole is securely in the snow when you click out so that it doesn’t go sliding down through the trees or off a steep drop as there is literally nothing to stop it from doing so.
straps are too small
The straps that came with the poles are so small they are unusable. They are labeled as "medium", which is what I would use, but I will have to go one or two sizes up. The kicker is that larger ones are not stocked by any of the five authorized dealers I called and they are not available on the solomon website. I will have to return the poles and buy another brand in order to get straps that are workable. AARRGHH!
