"Rain Jacket" don't be fooled.
First use was it in the rain on a half marathon. I was very disappointed to find that I was completely soaked through wet down to my base layer just in the walk from my car to the event sign in station, about a five minute walk. For such a high price tag I don't understand why they can't make this jacket perform. I was so excited to thought I found the perfect running rain jacket that was breathable with a hood but this quickly proved wrong. Overall the fit was very nice I'd you only use this for a wind breaker it would serve you well. I'm 6'-1" 200lbs and think an XL would be a better choice over the large. Arm length was perfect but up around the shoulders and arm pits it was very snug, and I don't have much bulk up top. If you have a bulky upper body I would recommend sizing up.
ON lightweight jacket
Nice fabric & super lightweight on the plus. Looks great + very fashionable… No hip pockets & a little pricey on the down side. Overall it’s a keeper
Nice, light rain jacket.
Lightweight. Repels light rain, blocks wind, fits well, and looks sharp. Don’t think it will keep me dry in a heavy rain, though, FYI. The hood fits well, and has a nice lid to keep the rain out of your eyes.
Handy to Have
Great light weight hooded jacket. Excellent for layering. Zipper is female style, however, and not correct for this application.
Not even remotely waterproof.
Recently wore this for run in a steady but light/moderate rain. A little more than 1/2 mile in the jacket was starting to wet out and my base layer was getting wet. 1.5 miles in, I could literally read my watch THROUGH the jacket sleeve. Decent option if you’re just looking for a light, packable windbreaker but cannot overstate exactly how NOT waterproof this is—which is unforgivable given the price and that it’s marketed as a waterproof jacket. Should’ve paid attention to other reviews but glad I bought at REI and was able to return.

Another wonderful piece of running gear from On Running. Technically advanced, solid fit, and reliable performance make this jacket a must have. Despite the high cost, it is worth every penny and should stand the test of time.
