Not Worth Buying

I always try freeze dried food at home first. I don't think I would like this even if I took it backpacking. I tried some and then threw the rest away.

Soy Sauce a Must!

Overtime I've learned to always pack Mountain House meals with some sort of seasoning. Soy sauce is a must with this one. Three stars without - 5 stars with.

Surprisingly Good

Bought each one of many meals for an extended outdoor adventure and was surprised by how good these are and did not cause any stomach issues. I bought mostly the chicken meals and all were good.

Could use some soy sauce

Not a bad meal but as one reviewer previously stated, a bit bland. I have purchased a couple of these so I plan to tape some packets of soy sauce to the package which should help.

Easy to cook, but bland

Really like mountain house meals, but this one was very bland. If you pack some sauce, would definitely improve the taste.

Not edible

I have eaten Mountain House meals since I began backpacking 19 years ago. I've tried just about all of them over the years, and found them to be excellent. I need to add a little salt to the Beef Stew, but that is simply a personal preference. I was excited to try the Chicken Fried Rice this week on my canoe camping trip. Don't know if the one I got had something wrong with it, or if it was just that bad. I could not eat it. Seemed like it might taste like wet cardboard would taste. I threw it out, and made due with jerky and crackers.

Very good!

This a good meal and i would typically add a half a cup more of water. Then i would add a curry spice to it. However it taste great as is.

Really dang darn good!

This meal is one of the best camp meals which I have ever tasted. The chicken has substance and does not have a hint of that dry cardboardy taste. I eat the whole bag at the end of the long trail-day. It is more than filling. Some powdered soy sauce is a great addition. I have a keychain Sriracha bottle for those times when I need an extra dab of spice. Tip: Use super hot boiling water, I mean really get it boiling. Then, stick to the MH directions. It comes out perfect.
