Great Toe Box, True to Size, Stability & H20 proof

I have owned 4 pairs of these shoes over the past year. I replace them every 2-3 months due to the soles wearing down. I wear orthotics & they are true to the claimed size. I especially like the ample toe box, that is the reason I am a loyal. However, I am experiencing the soles wearing down more quickly than I am accustom to. I wear them only when doing my daily walks on pavement. I have included photos of before & after wearing them for 150 miles. I really love the color and quality of this product, is there anyway that this problem could be addressed?

Great shoe!

I love these shoes. I love that they didn't require a break in period. They are waterproof. They are sturdy and help me not be so clumsy when I hike. They are still very comfortable. The soles on them allow me to hike through rocky terrain without feeling each rock under my foot and leave me feeling bruised like previous shoes. I was able to find the previous years model on sale in my size, so that was a huge added bonus. I love the grey and purple and was happy I didn't have to get the celery color. REI was great at fitting me in these and matching me to a shoe that met all of my needs, and then taught me lacing techniques to better address other issues I have while hiking.

comfortable from the start

I own two pair of these boots, and I'm about to order another for future use. I hike 30+ miles a week on average. These boots are comfortable and in wet conditions my feet stay dry. Even when walking on snow the soles grip well. I normally wear custom made orthotics, but find with these boots they are not necessary.

Not equal to the Synthesis.

I have worn the La Sportiva Synthesis, a lightweight GoreTex hiking boot/shoe for hiking and snowshoeing for several years. The Synthesis comes up a little higher on the ankle, so is more supportive and keeps your feet drier in snow. The Spire is slightly lower--more a shoe height--and the pair I ordered is too big (my fault--I ordered the same size as my other La Sportivas, half a size larger than the Synthesis). For hiking on rocks and in snow, I want the height and stability of the Synthesis. I'll return the Spires and look for another boot/shoe.

A Solid, Comfortable Shoe

I bought this shoe for day hiking and dog walking in an Upper Midwest winter with snow & ice. 5 thumbs up for both with flat-footed walking always on ice. One beef is I’ve had them about 2.5 months and I just went through the outer covering of a lace. I do walk my dog 3x/day but I’ll be looking for a more solid lace.

Sizing is Really Confusing

I unfortunately have to return these because the sizing is confusing on the website. I am a size 10 and according to the chart I should order a 42 even though my size is normally a 41. Should have ordered the 41 as these are HUGE!!!!!!!

Nice hiker

I have an older la sportivia hiker that I love. Since they no longer make it, I tried these. Toe box not quite as wide as my old pair but It seems to be well built, supportive shoe. If I didn’t have a bunion and need the extra width, I would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately I had to return
