Made for caving, the Petzl Stop is an assisted-braking descender that improves descent control and facilitates rope maneuvers. It is compatible with 8.5 to 11mm diameter low-stretch kernmantel ropes.

Best with thinner ropes
Yes , I recommend this product
Works great with 9mm static rope. If you plan to use it with thicker stiffer ropes, such as 11mm PMI max-wear, it does lock up when the handle is released (as advertised) but takes more effort to derig and does not allow a person to take up slack. Freino Z carabiner is useful for added friction.
