This thing is awesome!
I love little gadgets, and I normally wouldn't spend $100 on a flashlight. However, with a $100 gift card, problem solved. I decided to buy something I normally wouldn't spend my money on...and I picked this Fenix PD36R. Here's what I love. (1) It's solid and semi-heavy; just enough to feel awesome in the hand and well-made. (2) The switches and button are top-notch. Most of my $20 flashlights have rubbish switches...and they flicker as the switches wear out, get dust in them, or if you look at them wrong. (3) The five power modes are incredible. The lowest setting is great for everyday, low-light usage. The Turbo setting is great if you want to signal Batman in the sky, or if you want to light up a 1-acre back yard as if it's noon. Incredible. (4) The rechargeable battery makes me very happy. I love that I don't have to and find new batteries all the time. As a Apple, Macbook Pro user, I already have USB-C cables everywhere, so I can just plug it in whenever I want, and I'm back in the action. The ONLY downside I can see is the Turbo mode gets very warm at the LED end of the flashlight. But, turn that con into a pro by roasting a marshmallow on your flashlight. Buy it.

Fried usb charging port
The third time That I charged the light I left it over night to get max. charge. The next day I discovered that the port was damaged by heat and at disconnect saw that the port was fried and would no longer accept the usb connection cord terminal. Was promised contact from cust. support , so far have not heard from Fenix.

Probably not the hot pants you were looking for...

I did quite a bit of research before buying this quality EDC flash light... Everything with it has been outstanding except the pocket "Z" clip... There was a cold spell with temps getting down to 15 degrees, this made the belt clip more brittle and I managed to snap it in half by accident... The other thing to be aware of, if you have it on the highest setting, don't accidentally turn it on in your sweat pants... At the end of my day, I use the flashlight to search for dogpoop after letting her out and then put it light in my Under Armor sweat pants. Unfortunately for me, one night I managed to unintentionally activate it and my sweat pants had already begun to melt to my leg by the time I realized something near my groin was on fire. And since I nearly caught myself on fire with my flashlight by accident, it could probably be used as a fire starter in a desperate situation... It is the best flashlight I've ever owned just like the Fenix HM65R headlamp is the best headlamp I've ever owned...

Excellent

When I ordered I was really excited to get this light. The new battery was very appealing as it added a lot of runtime to the light. Incredibly nice to be able to plug it into any outlet with the USB-C and charge it on the go without the need for a designated charging station. Love that it has the battery indicator so you know when it’s getting low. Overall absolutely love this light and it is my daily carry right now. Cons- I’ve had a few fenix lights and always seem to run across an issue with the electronics inside. I’ve had multiple flicker and whatnot. I have had this one not turn on once. I thought it was dead but I plugged it in and it had the green indicator. Ended up having to take the battery and put it back in. Not sure what the issue was with that. Also wish it had the “moonlight” option like some of the other fenix lights that give a 1 lumen light that’ll last an incredible amount of time.

Great flashlight!

I was able to use this fully on our getaway cabin. It was pitch black and when I used the high and turbo, oh boy it really light up things, you can even see way up of the tallest trees. For me this 800-1600 lumens is very enough. Forgot to take a picture cuz I was so mesmerized of how it performed.

OK Light, One Big Flaw

I've had this light for over a year now, and I think this is my 4th or 5th Fenix light over the past ~12 years. It is definitely bright, which is true off all the Fenix LED lights. Probably the brightest one I've owned. The metal case is tough and durable, and the redesigned 2-way clip is a well thought out convenience (it lets you clip the light in a pocket from either direction). It is o-ring sealed, and adding a dab of silicone grease should keep it waterproof up to a reasonable depth. There are some complaints that it gets hot. Of course it gets hot. Follow the instructions and don't use the highest output mode continuously, and it doesn't get hot at all. So why 4 stars? This may sound like a trivial issue, but the mode select button has no tactile component that allows me to find it just by touch. The only way to change modes is to look at the light and physically turn it until I see the button, then press it. Most of the other Fenix lights I've owned have used a rubberized button that was easy to feel, and one of them had this functionality built into the tail switch (I really liked that and wish they'd bring that design back). They could have added some sharp knurling or anything really to make the switch easy to find. I might try gently grinding the button myself to fix the issue, it's that bad. At this price point, I would expect details like this to be addressed before the product is taken to market.

1st time out...tropical storm!

It is perfect. The week that I got it, a tropical storm hit. We expected flooding from our creek and had to go out and check several times in the night. Using high andturbo beam of light illuminared the area through the pounding rain. The Fenix PD35R.worked perfectly! Highly recommed!! Thanks

Worth the investment!

Great flashlight and worth the investment! Solid and well-built, with a long-lasting removeable battery. Eco/low mode is perfect for dog walks, while the higher settings allow me to light up the far corners of my back yard or wherever/whenever I want to know what's out there... Husband has "2000 lumen" flashlight from Amazon, and my Fenix flashlight far outperforms his light.

Fantastic light

I got this as a present. It is as heavy as expected but it is extremely bright. The several modes of light intensity are very useful. It comes with a lanyard and a little case for it. The clip attaches like normal, and the cap clip work great. The flashlight is a little too heavy to leave it attached to a cap, but it works fine.

Lonsolo Wow! light saber flash light!

I just bought this light to try to change up my old pack lights because it’s pitch black out there. I just used it in my back yard and bam! I saw deer eyes in my 1 Acre yard! I haven’t even used it on trial yet and I’m already happy with it! Great new gadget to cut the night. Can’t wait to field test it.
