Good karma

Picking up doggy droppings makes me feel like a better person but carrying them around is gross. I used to use a fanny pack so I wouldn't leave plastic bags on the trail to come back for later, but without a liner it was pretty stinky. I regularly walk/run my dog for 45 mins to an hour, and this sack has been fairly smell proof. Product is a bit spendy, but you don't have to go back for a stinky poo bag and you earn karma points, so worth it for me.

My dogs are always wearing a harness when hiking and I’d like to see the option of easily attaching this to the harness. My pack and belt have enough safety gear etc for the two of us, I don’t have room for this. I usually tie the waste bag to their harness. I have a larger dog now which means there’s not a lot of empty bag to tie off with. This bag is so close to being perfect.

Awesome! Useful and durable!

Really appreciate the durability of this #2 pack out bag. Yesterday morning after an early walk on the paths before anything was plowed, I accidentally dropped the pouch in the parking lot. This morning I returned and was able to find the Ruffwear Pack Out Bag, no worse for wear (considering it was dragged/rolled/sat in a melting snow pile/refrozen overnight), in the snow plow pile. Great product! I just need to make sure I fully pack it out from now on! Oh and this is the large size, fits great on my hip, not too big, perfect size!

Super handy

Bought this after getting tired of carrying bags while out on a walk. I went with the medium size for my 25lb dog and it’s just about the right size (he’s good for 2-3 poopanoolies per walk, idk where it all comes from). If your dog frequently makes bathroom stops, maybe go with the large. The strap it comes with is a little tough to adjust and get just right. I just use the clip to put on my belt and it works great. It’s more expensive than other brands, but no doubt the build quality on this one is superior. It’s a handy bag and you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one sooner. Keeps your hands free for the leash and to take pics of your dog while out on an adventure.

An absolute must-have for dog owners/walkers

Of all the items I've purchased from REI, this is the one I recommend most to others (and get questions on constantly!). I wear my "dog kit" while walking my 65lb dog: an REI fanny pack, a treat pouch, and this pack out bag. When clipped onto the fanny pack's belt I am able to swing this around to my back while walking, keeping the pack and treat pouch in front. I would love to see it updated so it could attach easily to a dog's harness, but even in it's current state, I give this five stars.

Loved it!

I used it on a day hike with my dog . It worked great. I was not stuck holding two used waste bags . i only have a cocker spaniel/poodle mix . The large bag was ok for the job.

Necessary evil

A definite necessity for hikes or even dog park runs. Awesome concept. my problem with it is how much of a pain it is to refill the bag dispenser. it's a tight squeeze and trying to feed the bag through the slot is ruff (pun intended).

Every dog walker needs one of these

Exactly what I was looking for. Went with the larger pack bc my dog can go to the bathroom 3 times on a walk and I didn't want to be cramming bags into the pack.

Use it every day

I have the largest size available and it will fit 2-3 bags of my 75lb dog's waste. It was pretty dang smell-proof at the beginning, but after over a year of everyday use, the smell comes through (but not as badly as the bag being exposed). I do my best to keep it downwind of me! I let it air out in a covered outdoor location after use, and keep it zipped if I take it inside or in the car with me. I use the green waist strap or otherwise attach it to myself through the loops on the back. The belt clip is not always reliable-- my friend exclusively used the belt/waistband clip on hers and it fell off during a hike. An expensive piece of gear to lose! Love this bag and recommend to neighborhood walkers and hikers alike. This was amazing when I lived in the city with my reactive dog; I had an extra hand to manage when going past triggers and no heavy, swinging load on the leash.

Hands free smell free(mostly)

Love not having to carry my dog’s p**p on longer walks/hikes! I got the smaller size and it’s plenty of room for my 60lb dog’s p**p. She rarely goes more than once on a walk but it could probably fit a 2nd one if needed. It’s not 100% smell proof but way better than anything else I’ve tried(like another plastic grocery bag). You’ll get some faint whiffs here and there.
