Not really a 20
We just received this bike. As frustrating as this whole covid thing is, bikes and bike parts are out of stock everywhere which is a good thing. People are getting out side. REI did a decent job of keeping me updated on this. As for the bike, it doesn't seem to be a true 20 inch bike. This is our 2nd 20 inch, the other is a Specialized in a similar setup. This one, the geometry makes it for a tighter feel which isn't necessarily a bad option but seems on the smaller side compared to the Specialized. My daughter loves the color, enjoys the ride as well. It is a solid bike, just seems to be on the smaller side of a 20 inch.
My 7 y/o 45" tall daughter loves this!
after riding an all steel bike that came with training wheels and only a coaster break for a few weeks my daughter was ready for a "real bike" and this fit the bill on paper. in practice it was the best purchase I ever made for one of my kids. the shifter is easy for small hands to shift, the breaks are confident and the handle bar break levers are positioned well for a small grip. The 7 speed gear system makes light work of the hills in our neighborhood. finally my smaller daughter can keep up and even out run her larger friends of the same age on our street. this bike has boosted her confidence and encouraged her to exercise every day to get even stronger so she can do trails with daddy! I'm in love! It is a bit heavier than I would have liked and there is an option without a front fork from Cannondale however she thinks the fork is so cool and makes her look like dad when out riding. I love this bike!
Great for the money
I spent a lot of time researching kids mtn bikes and was willing to spend way more money than this, especially since there were very few reviews at the time of purchase. We pulled the trigger on the Cannondale and our kiddo (4years old) loves it. It’s certainly not the lightest for its size but overall mechanics are solid 6 months into use. I had to cut the seat post down a few inches as he was too short for the standard post but thankfully he’s growing into the bike. We fully expect it last several years and still hold some residual value when he outgrows it.
Good First Mountain Bike
My soon to be 5 year old loves this bike. The transition to handlebar brakes from coaster brakes was minimal. The gears are a little tricky for him, although he’s starting to get the concept after about a month. He enjoys being able to grind up bigger hills in my neighborhood and go fast going back down with my help reaching over to switch the gears for him. (I think he’ll really catch on soon). I would prefer if it had thumb gear changers over twist gears but I might end up making that upgrade after he grasps the concept more. Other than that I feel as though this is a fairly light kids mountain bike considering it has suspension (which does seem to work) and the gears. I definitely opted for my kid to be on a mountain bike so that he can experience varied terrain with stability and confidence. As opposed to limiting him to just paved trail and road.
Very good bike, and all rounder.
I bought this bike for my son when he was 4 and is now 6, has been faultless and is still a good size. It's the perfect bike if your kid is a into riding it's a good learner and it's also good on trails.
Great for 6 yr old
Upgrade from 16inch to 20 inch Bike looks awesome. Bike geometry is sporty and front suspension is really plus.
