Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and Âľ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Tried to replace my worn out REI hiking pants, but couldn’t find the exact style I had. Things that are important to me are large deep pockets, zippered or Velcro pocket, belt loops, light weight/quick drying, petite length, fits at the waist. Found almost all of these preferences in these Savanna Trails Pants, size 6 petite. Also appreciate the tapered leg and drawstring at the ankle. Good for both hiking and kayaking, as well as casual wear. After wearing my initial purchase, I came back and ordered another 3 pair, one in each color. Add more colors and I’d probably order more.
I wore these for the first time . They were comfortable and a good fit . I thought they would easy care until I read the washing directions .. REALLY ?
I got these for hiking but have already worn them for everyday use. They are soft enough so they don't "swish" when I walk and they have pockets. They're a flattering fit without any nuisance spots but snug enough so I could not fit a base layer under them. Good for 60 degrees and above for me unless it's a vigorous hike. I normally wear a regular 6 and need a long rise and have to have most pants shortened an inch or two. These are slightly short and have a pull-cord at the ankle so they can come in above my hiking boots, but for casual wear the pull-cord makes a fitted ankle that disguises the lack of length.
I love these pants for hiking, they’re great lightweight summer pants and have plenty of room for base layers underneath to double as winter pants. I was also really excited to see a short (petite) size offered since it’s hard to find pants that aren’t too long! My only complaints - I wish the thread was more durable as they already have a couple pulls along the seams after maybe 15-20 wears. And biggest issue, the elasticized waist in back has these pants constantly sagging down if you put much of anything in the pockets (ie just your phone). They would be much better with a drawstring or adjustable elastic with buttons so you could limit how much they stretch. If I can find a good adjustment to get that fixed though I expect a few great years of wear from these.
I felt hot in these. I wore them for a day at work gardening/landscaping in about 75 degrees not direct sun all day or anything. I want something long to protect my skin, light weight and breathable. These stuck to my skin. I had to change out to shorts half way through the day. They might work in cooler weather in the fall. I didn't like the fact the waist was not adjustable. I thought I could live with it, based on the measurements, they should have been tight on me, but they were too loose. I ordered a 10 Petite, my waist is 31/32 so these should have been snug. Nope. Guess what? Women have lots of different waist sizes just like MEN.
I really love that these were in petite sizes and was super excited to buy these! I'm not a fan of wearing leggings on hikes and was looking for pants to protect my legs on certain hikes. I went in-store to buy these and had trouble deciding which size I needed. I wear 8/10P. I decided to go with 10P as they fit great in the fitting room but had to return these after one wear. They started out fitting great but at the end of the day they were way too loose and slipping down. They have a button and zipper and I really wish there was a way to tighten these at the waist without a belt. I exchanged them for an 8p and they fit much better but still loosen up the longer I wear them. Carrying my phone in the pockets weighs them down too. I thought about going down another size but it would be too tight at the thighs and opted to go with just wearing a belt. This way I can wear a base layer, if needed. I bought these about 9 months ago and they have held up nicely with average wear and wash of twice/month. The length is good for my liking and I like that you can tighten the leg cuff. I have worn them on some 2-3 mile hikes. Both front and back pockets are deep. Pants are soft and flexible. They feel lightweight and are somewhat breathable. I wouldn't wear these in hot weather. Maybe 75-80F max. In the end, I would buy another pair of these to add to my collection as options for petite sizes are limited but it wouldn't be without looking at other options first.
I love these pants, I wore them many days on my trip to the national parks, they are so comfortable for long car rides, and hiking. I am 5'3" 120LB, The size 2 fit, but I bought the size 4 for the long car rides, & I wear a belt with them. Size 4 is very big in the waist on me, but works with a belt. They are my favorite pants!
LOVE these pants and love that they come in petite; however, they have one fatal flaw - they are missing a drawstring. The elastic only goes around the back half of the waist, and within one wear, the elastic relaxed to the point of pants falling down while on trail. I had to continuously pull them up. If these pants had a drawstring, they would be 5 stars.
I saw this in the store and decided to try them because they come in the petite size and it's hard to find good hiking pants for those of us on the petite side. I thought they were on sale, but they turned out to be full price (REI - the signs in the store were confusing), but I got them anyway because they are incredibly comfortable and great for summer hikes. Unlike most hiking pants, they have a slimming effect and made me look 10 lbs lighter. They are also a great length for those of us who are under 5'4". I love them so much that I ordered the black and green from the website. Get them - you will love wearing these.
Takeaways 1. These pants are not as described (relaxed fit on the tag & straight in online description). They are slim and tapered... Which I wanted, so its fine for me. 2. Actually a petite length vs other REI petite pants 3. I ordered a second pair For Reference: Waist: 26-27 in Hips (high/low): 34-36 in Inseam: 25 in Thigh: 22 ish in Height: 4'11.75" Pros (+) Cons (-) + Lightweight & packable + Somewhat breathable. Was not only a little sweaty in direct sun (75 F) in the black ones while hiking up a steep hill. + EXCELLENT front pockets & inner zipper pocket for keys (I would have liked a double pocket on the right back side with a small zipper pocket and a larger open pocket over it) + Cinching leg openings - Not as described - Not high waist - Features from the older version of the pant are gone (adjustable waistband, higher waist, etc.) - Knee reinforcements arent really doing anything. They dont come down far enough to cover your knee when you kneel. - Sizing is inconsistent with other REI pants (Im a solid size 4 in the Activator 3.0 and needed a 0 in these. However the size chart is different for both.)....
