NEMOÂ Helio Pressure Shower - 11 Liters
This product is not available.
Unlike gravity camp showers that need to be hung overhead, the 11-liter NEMO Helio pressure shower rests on the ground and provides the pressure you need to wash hair, do dishes or rinse off gear.

Air leak
Used this approximately 4 times in the past year since I bought it. On my recent trip, upon inflating it up to pressure for use, the fit port area completely leaks air and reduces the pressure to minimal. Only way to actually use it now is to constantly pump it while using it. I definitely DO NOT recommend this product, there are cheaper ones that are more durable. I've read this is a common problem with these. I'll try the NEMO lifetime warranty, but not sure there's any fix other than getting a new one.... which I will assume will develop the same air leaking issue. A waste of $130. Look for other more solid options than this flimsy one.
Hoses you down to get the job done.
This gets the job done. I found that I do not really have to pump it very much to get the water going or to keep it flowing. I typically have more water left over than I need. And this is after hosing off 2 toddlers, my wife and myself after a day at the beach. My only qualm is closing the cap after filling it up. You cannot top it off with water because as others have mentioned you won’t be able to close the seal. Worth having for camping, beach trips, post run wash downs.
Nice shower but tank is impossible to dry out
The design of this shower is super awkward. It is difficult to fill, but more importantly, it is nearly impossible to empty and dry out. I used the shower this weekend, tried to empty it at the campground, and at home propped the small flap open near a dehumidifier with no luck. There is still some water in there 2 days later. There is no way to remove the hose/nozzle to dry that out either. The shower itself worked really well. It heated up nicely in the sun. However, I am going to have to return it because I am not up for water sitting in the tank and getting funky.
Quite a treat
While initially seeming and indulgence, this shower has graduated to the essential status. Very welcome while camping 4 days in Joshua Tree. Wind, sun and heat didn't stop activities, nor sweat. Refreshing to feel clean at the end of the day. We were fortunate to have been able to fill tank at Black Rock. Second campground had no water source. Water was so hot by end of day, we had to put the unit in the shade before using it. 11 liters enough for two showers and dishes rinse. The fill valve was a bit of a challenge initially. For me it worked best to start at one point and work around rather than trying to just push the whole thing in at once. To address the draining of the tank before storage, obviously pull plug and invert as best as you can. The residual moisture is dealt with by opening fill valve and leaving unit expanded in the sun. Sun will vaporize water. With valve end up, place unit on a flat surface on push down, like an accordion 3-4 times. This will expel the moisture. Repeat the process 2-3 times, as needed over a couple of hours. Total time spent is less than 5 minutes. You will have a nearly fully dry unit.
Impossible to dry out
Cool product and very useful at the campsite or on the go. BUT this is impossible to dry out. So it's really a one time use product unless you are constantly using it. I would not put this back in storage unless you want have mold and bacteria start growing. I've had this upside down on a hanger for 2 weeks now and still has water in it (and I live in Denver). I hope REI can make this right because I'd like to keep using it but not for $130.
Glad I Gave it a Chance
I read dozens of reviews on different portable showers, especially the Nemo brand ones because they seemed to have so many high and low ratings. I was hesitant but really wanted to be able to spray down my surfboards and rinse off after surfing in places that don't have fresh water. Long story short, this thing works. It is not difficult to open or close the cap, just follow the instruction. The pressure is pretty good all things considered and you won't have to continuously pump it up as much as you'd think. Didn't give it the full five stars because the pump naturally lays upside down with the air valve on the ground and it's annoying to flip it over each time. Also, the water hose tends to kink right where it comes out of the bladder. Again - just an annoyance but it would be nice if Nemo could add some more structure to the hose for the first few inches where it attaches to the bladder so that it doesn't kink and prevent water from flowing.
Great portable shower
We brought ours (a vertical model) on a cross-country camping trip in 2019. It worked well and was great in the hot canyons of Utah, warmed up fast when set in the sun, and made the day a lot better. We used it a number of times en route for washing hair and hands, and for several showers while away from civilization. Didn’t have any problems with the pump valve as a few others described. We had no trouble getting the fill cap and pump caps closed securely after learning how they work, but filling it was a little tricky. It helps to dish the plastic around the fill port to help guide the water in. It looks like the new fill design on the horizontal model may have improved this issue, tempted to get one. Another thought would be to design a larger fill hole with a sealed screw cap. The Osprey brand hydration backpacks used to have a large easy-to-use cap like that, but seem to have gone to a different design recently. One point, for those that have trouble with products, please contact the vendor or manufacturer and give them a chance to try to solve the problem! It’s natural to complain and feel disappointed when something goes wrong and it’s fair to warn others, but that alone doesn’t help anyone. Many makers stand behind their products and want to make things right for you and future customers, and they may need more details from you - or might be able to give some advice. It’s clear that the Nemo folks have put a lot of thought into making a good product and they appear responsive to problems and for improving the designs.
Problematic design
We love the idea of this product, but like another reviewer, really, really struggled to seal it without spilling half the water. I couldn't get a seal on it even while empty, and my husband was barely able to seal it wet or dry. It's also very hard to open again to empty out the water. It also takes two people to fill - one to hold the bucket and one to hold the unit open to accept water. We're returning the product, but going to try the larger version, which appears to have a screw on cap with a much wider opening.
Filler cap doesn't seal on new design
The filler cap will not seal on the newly designed version of this, meaning it will never hold pressure. I've tried two different ones and both had the same issue.
Great System
I've taken this on a few weekend car camping trips and it worked great for washing our hands, hair, and any dirty dishes that we had to clean. The material feels well built and the water pressure built up really well. I used my brother's older version and the two perform very similarly but I do like the horizontal setup a little more because of the stability. The only negative I have to say is that it can be a little difficult to get the cap open and closed when filling up but after doing it a few times, you get the hang of it. Overall, great system!
