Off Label Use of Product

I was looking for a weather proof product to protect my car’s rooftop crossbars. Foam pool noodles and similar products were too thick and didn’t provide wraparound protection from my kayak rack. I purchased this padding, cut it to size, wrapped it around the crossbars. I secured it in place with electrical tape & duct tape. I installed the kayak racks over it. So far it seems to be working well. Also the available products advertised specifically to protect crossbars got poor reviews and were too thick for my kayak rack.

More trouble than it's worth?

Bought this to go with a Rightline roof top bag to protect the car roof from damage by adding some cushioning under the bag and helping prevent any slipping/scraping of the loaded bag. While this may be more of a bag issue, driving into a stiff headwind on the interstate highway (higher speeds) caused the front of the bag to float even with the nose of the bag packed tight and straps pulled tight (we secured to side rails of the car with the side straps). This allowed wind under front of the bag which made the pad vibrate VERY loudly right above our heads. If there's a next time, we'll try putting the front load bar on the car to use the front straps with hopes of holding the bag down. That was the goal from the start, but the bag was a little too long to fit between the load bars on a Subaru Crosstrek.

tore with tje wind on the edge and corner.

The product did its job but the amount of wheight did not help from slaping tje car and making excesive noice. Maybe if i carried tje tote full would i had a great fit.

Does the job

Does the job, doesn't slip, but does need to be cut to fit the bag on top, or it flaps and that can be noisy.
