Great Cooler
Looking for a new cooler and decided to get this Hopper M30 after reading some reviews online. The only downside of this cooler is that it might be hard to load and unload ice or food with the magnetic opening. You just have to play around with the cooler to find a solution that makes the loading and unloading easier for you. Overall this cooler is great and does it job in keeping your drinks and food cold for days. Went on a couple of road trips and the ice kept the drinks and some foods cold all day long. The bag is also great because you don't need a lot of space to put it in your car. You can cramp it into a tight space and it still fits. Love the product!
Strong Magnets... Really Strong
First off, this cooler is way bigger than I was expecting! Which isn’t a bad thing, just bigger than for what I need. The material internally and externally would be very easy to maintain and clean. It feels extremely high-quality and true to Yeti standards. It comes with a shoulder strap which has a rubber(ish)/ non-slip material on the side that contacts the shoulder. The padding is thick and would provide lots of comfort. My only hiccup is the magnets that seal is are extremely strong - however, I think after some use they would “break in” and be easier to open without compromising the seal they provide.
Built Tuff
Went out on a limb and purchase the Yeti Hopper M30 Soft Cooler even after reading the closure issues. I do see why the moved from the zipper to the magnetic strip. Found a solution that is fitting for the use of the cooler. Works well.
Horrible Design - Quality Build
I own a few Yeti coolers and products. The opening of this cooler is horrible. The new opening is a strong magnet replacing the zipper of past models. It is impossible to hold open and load without assistance. It is impossible to open and use without help. It takes to hands or a device to hold open. The magnets have constant pressure to close. I returned this item after one use. My recommendation is you avoid the Hopper with magnetic closure.
Hate the shape & the impossible loading/unloading
This was given to me as a gift and my sister spent SO much money on it and I HATE it. Any cooler that requires a “how to” video for use should have been better consumer-tested before going to market. Holding it open either with your elbow-to-fist or squeezed between your knees? AYFKM? Maybe if you always have a second person as an assistant, but even then you’re in each other’s way trying to fill it. It’s ridiculous. And then the fact that it tapers smaller at the top means it crushes anything up top/can’t put Sqaure containers in it. I suppose if you only used this to stack cans of soda/beer and did them in a pyramid MAYBE it would be a good product? Oh, also, WITHOUT anything in it it’s gotta already weigh 8 or so lbs. full I need my husband to carry it, and I’m strong! I gave it two stars instead of one because it’s durable, the colors are pretty and stuff sure won’t fall out of it.
Flawed design
I was so excited to buy a smaller, lightweight Yeti cooler for my son and I to take on short camping trips. The closure design on this cooler is terrible. It doesn’t lock open, so, in order to get anything out, you have to physically keep it open while rummaging to find what you are looking for. I guess the thought behind the design was that the cooler would be self-closing. Another problem with the design is in trying to air dry it after use. Fortunately, REI is an awesome company and I was able to return it after using it one time. I really like our hard sided Yeti, but this one is a strong pass.
Great bag for keeping things cold
I really love this bag. Couple of things to keep in mind, once you have used it, when not in use keep it open so it can breathe. We use this bag when we go to the store and put meats and seafood in it, well if you do not let it open after use it will tend to smell. The bag does what it was designed for and keeps whatever you put in it cold. Sometimes you might have to have someone help when putting things in it though, the closure works really good but at times too good when you are trying to put something in and have a time doing that task. This is another great product from Yeti.
Love this soft cooler easy to fit in the car
Great cooler keeps things cold for days
Best available
After I figured out how to load the cooler, decided it's a keeper. You can step on the carry handles and the cooler stays open. You can switch it up with one hand and one foot, jam one end into a wall and prop the other side with your leg, or wedge the cooler between two legs. Get creative and it works fine. It stays open easier after it's loaded. Much better than the zipper. It's overbuilt and glorious. It's a Yeti: ice lasts forever, it's indestructible, and it's insanely priced. Very happy with it so far.
Good cooler, wonky design
I was stoked on this cooler - who doesn't want a yeti?? However, the functionality of it caused me to exchange it. The magnet, while powerful and keeps the cold in, makes it awkward to load/unload, and makes it even harder to clean and dry out (mine acquired a strange smell after two uses).
