Another Great Multi-tool From Leatherman

The Leatherman FREE P4 Multi-tool is easy to open, all tools lock into place, and the tools are accessible from the outside so that you do not have to open the pliers first. This multi-tool is really well thought out and is another high quality tool made here in America. Both the sheath and belt clip are included with the FREE P4.

Maybe too fragile?

I like the ability to work the tool with a single hand. What I don't like is the eyelets to open the blade are sharp, will definitely need to sand. Also, on the first day I got it and I dropped it two feet onto a hard wood floor and a little plastic piece fell out. Once that happened the side with the Philips head wouldn't stay in place when I tried to close the tool. Sent it in for warranty work and waiting for it to be returned. A real bummer, don't know why the didn't stick to all metal parts.

FREE P4 replaced my WAVE.

Exceeded my expectations. I do miss the diamond file but not a dealbreaker at all.

Best Multi-Tool I've ever owned

Quite simply, I feel this is the best multi-tool available. I demand all-locking tools, and tools accessible without opening the pliers. The P4 fits the bill perfectly. I've only had it for a few weeks and have used it many times. I've had the original Buck Tool, and the second version, the first was great but the locking mechanism wore out to the point it was dangerous to use, Buck replaced for free with the second version, which eventually corroded to the point of being useless. I've had a few Gerber's and others that just fall short in quality. My only complaint with the P4 is not having a horizontal carry option from Leatherman. I purchased a nicely hand-made leather one from Etsy, and now all is good!

Really well thought out tool. Super handy

Got this for Christmas and I was excited. The p4 is a really well thought out tool. Can open the pliers and access the blades and sissors one handed. Really handy! The other tools (screwdriver, can opener etc) require two handed operation. Tools are well made and the multitool fits well in the hand. Pocket clip makes it useful for carrying in your pocket (although it is a bit big). One downside I see is if you are left handed. I think you would find the ergonomics a bit challenging for the one-handed opening and closing. Other than that, it's an excellent tool!

Awesome Upgrade!!!

I bought the original Wave when it first came out and I haven't found a replacement for it or anything that came close, until now. This is a worthy upgrade. Time will tell if this one will last as long (I still have my Wave in great working condition). I hope it does.

Better than I thought it would be

Picked this up at my local REI yesterday. It hasn't been used in the "field" yet. However after a few hours of opening and closing it while watching TV, I just can't put it down. The pocket clip is nice, makes it easy to take with me. The pouch it comes with is cool but you have to weave it through a belt. Pocket clip is way easier. It does give you options for carry. I like the magnet feature, it stays secured while in your pocket. I barley notice it. Classic leatherman tools that have a modern touch. Knives are razor sharp. Saw is like piranha teeth, ready to saw the thickest of 2-3" limbs. Scissors have a good feel to them and cut easily. Tool selection is great. However it's not a replacement for a complete tool box. Well worth the investment. 25 year warranty. You can't go wrong.

Nice, but not the way of the future

If you want to upgrade your current multi tool or get one as a gift, this is nice. Solid, sturdy feel and grip. The magnets seem to be getting slightly weaker, but they hold. I also don’t like how much of this can rust! For the price…I was hoping it’d be more stainless. I fish a lot so water durability is a must. I use this one for every day things but save the old, already dirty one, for my fishing.
