I've had these boots for two seasons. I go outside in the snow and cold everyday. They keep my feet warm and dry. They are very comfortable. I have a lot of chronic foot pain and these are the only boots I can wear. They also have a nice roomy toe box. The reason I give these a 4 instead of 5 is that the top 3 eyelets (or whatever you string your laces through ) are made of plastic.. The top one broke off on one boot shortly after I got them. Keen replaced them, but the new pair had the same thing happen. Unfortunately the boots will not stay laced very well this way. I'm sure they would replace them again, but it would be better if they fixed the problem with the boot.
I wanted to update my previous review (Sara) now that I’ve hiked through snow in these boots. They held up beautifully for the first several miles (9 total) from what I could tell, but they were damp on the inside by the end of the trail. Mind you, they were completely covered in snow all 9 miles, and my feet were never once cold on the hike despite temps below 30 degrees. It makes sense since they do need to provide some level of breathability, and I only had one tiny blister on my toe by the end of the hike. All in all, I’d wear these boots on a long snowy hike all over again in a heartbeat. I just wouldn’t recommend them for multi-day snowy/wet hikes since no one wants to put on damp boots.
Now that I own these boots, good luck getting me out of them. I have raynauds, and we just had a major cold spell here with windchills in the negatives. My feet were warm the whole time! They’re so comfortable, I can keep them on during the work day and not get overheated. I should also note that I have plantar fasciitis, and my feet have zero pain in these. I haven’t tried them in deep snow yet, so how they hold up to that is yet to be seen. Otherwise, I’m thrilled with them! Well worth every penny.
When shopping for winter boots, I ordered these and another popular brand from REI. I tried them both and while the other brand was a more popular brand, the KEEN's hugged my feet like a glove and felt so great that there really wasn't any choice but to go with KEEN. The soles on these boots really grip the snow and ice and I found walking my dogs and hiking SO much easier. I can wear them all day in comfort and they look great! I would suggest going up 1/2 size (I wear 6.5-7, bought 7.5 in this boot) I highly recommend this winter boot!
I have had these boots for over a year. I love these boots! My feet stay warm and dry if walking in snow. If you are walking in deep water puddles, no your feet will be wet. I have gotten to the point I put these on in the morning and wear them all day. My dog has me outside more then inside.
I have these boots and thought they were great until I notice my heels hurt every time I wear them. I thought maybe I had something under the sole insert. I pulled the insert out and there is a raised one inch wide round disc that is part of the shoe. It puts pressure on the middle of the heel. I wear Keens all the time and have never seen this. Argh these boots are still in good condition but unwearable.
These are not waterproof in snow. They're comfortable and light weight, but your feet will not stay dry.
Nice boots. Keep feet warm without sweating. They do run small. Order a whole size bigger!
I bought these boots after moving from Texas to Michigan. I picked these because they were rated on multiple gear review websites to be extremely warm, waterproof, and great for the outdoors. 100% agree. One thing I wanted in a snow boot was to be able to still explore outside, not necessary about style (although I personally like the technical look and the fuzz is cute too). I've used these for walking my dog 1-2 miles daily in 4-6" snow and I've taken them on multiple winter hikes without a problem. I ordered my usual size and can use them with fairly thick socks with no problem. The only time I've ever noticed my socks getting wet is if snow comes over the top and even then my feet were still warm. Traction has worked great on everything but thick ice.
I ordered a pair because two well-respected websites made this their top pick for a boot that sits in between a hiking boot and an all-purpose boot. I ordered my standard Keene size - 7.5 - (a half size larger than my normal shoe size - 7) and found these just a little too short and a little too narrow to be comfortable. Size 8 was no longer available so I returned them and went with the Oboz 7.5, which were a better fit, though slightly stiffer and heavier.
