Light weight and comfortable
Bought this for our recent trip to the cloud forest in Ecuador as a less costly alternative to the other brands. I was pleased with the fit and light weight.
Best lightweight waterproof running jacket
I had long been looking for the lightest possible shell for trail running and I couldn't be happier with this remarkable jacket. I had always carried a Patagonia Houdini in my running vest in case things got ugly but that jacket is far from water proof. The materials on the Janji Rainrunner jacket are incredible. The fabric has stretch to it, it is unbelievably light, and it's actually waterproof! Took it on a run last night after our first snow of the season. The jacket breathes extremely well and the venting system is well thought out. Can't recommend this jacket enough!
My go to rain gear, year round in Atlanta.
I have fallen for Janji thanks to this jacket which I've worn in the Fall, Winter and now Spring. The 360° and under arm venting works great. I really enjoy the hood which attaches at the brim of a running hat which generally keeps my face and neck dry too. I've since had the confidence to buy more Janji products. I was fortunate to find the rain jacket at REI.
Sizing is weird
I was on the hunt for a rain jacket to help me get through Seattle's rainy and dark winter and thought I had found the one with this Janji jacket. Unfortunately, the sizing on these jackets is really weird. I'm normally a medium or a large depending on the jacket, but these jackets are really narrow in the shoulders. A medium was too small everywhere. A large fit right in the torso but was still narrow in the shoulders. Even the XL was a bit narrow in the shoulders but now very blousy in the torso. Returned and still on the hunt for a rain jacket to meet my needs.
Incredibly light yet effective
This is the perfect running jacket for running in rain and cool temps. Most running jackets in my experience are either light and breathable, but don't keep you dry, or they're thick and rubbery and don't breath, so you end up soaked and roast. This one has it dialed in perfect. The material is super light and actually waterproof, and there's a large vent along the entire middle of the jacket to let heat/sweat out without letting water in. This is my go-to for longer runs in the rain, and because it's incredibly light, it's easy to pack if the sun comes out.
Phenomenal Jacket, But...
Just got this jacket in, and I can see why everyone raves about it. Super lightweight but sturdy and i can see how well ventilated it is. Was SO looking forward to using it. Best one I've ever seen or tried. However: I am 6'1, about 210, and while the arm length is PERFECT (I wear dress shirts size 34-35" sleeves), and the body length is perfect (but if any shorter at all it would be too short), the shoulder and bicep area of the jacket allows little room for motion for me. If you have slightly muscular shoulders you might not have much armpit room in this jacket. So - be aware, or ship two sizes to try on / one to return. I tried an XL. I'm afraid an XXL would have too long arm sleeves, etc. So i am returning this. If only it had more armpit room and wider upper sleeves, this would be the most exciting gift to myself in years.
Far better than expected
This jacket blew my expectations out of the water... it’s ability to keep me dry is better than that of two other jackets I have from other “larger” brands that cost at least $100 more. The vents on it are enough to keep me aired out and not suffocated. I live in Texas where it’s not super cold when it rains but mostly just insanely humid. It’s water proof and wind resistance are incredible. I would gladly buy another.
Missing hood adjustments, else Perfect
Would have been a perfect 5 start had it got adjustable drawstrings for the hood. I have worn it in rain, drizzle and also while snowing (running). It kept the warmth at 30-35 degree F during a chilly trail running session. During a track workout while it was pouring, this kept me dry and never felt uncomfortable during the run. I have a North face rain jacket and Patagonia Houdini and both have drawstrings to adjust the hood. Had this Janji jacket had the drawstrings, it would have been awesome. On a windy day, it feel fluttering and doesn't stay in place. I am 5'7 and 159 lbs (average built) and this fits me perfectly. I would still carry/wear it for my rainy runs without hesitation. I got this on a very good deal (actually steal) from REI and its worth every penny!
Turned out to be a great impulse buy!
I bought this rain jacket on the offhand chance my next race might have rain, as it turns out it was a prophetic thought. I lost track of how many hours it rained after 8 but I was snug and dry with the exception of a little sweat build up which is to be expected. I wore a hydration pack over the jacket which blocked the vents on back from operating properly. Through the years I have had a lot of jackets and coats as well as hoodies and I have never seen a more effective hood on outerwear. When needed, I put it up and it stayed in place with no hassle.
No hoodie adjustment
I have worn this jacket 3 times so far on rainy days and I have loved how it has kept me dry without overheating me due to the ventilation openings in the back. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that the hood doesn't have any type of adjustment, which I consider not good for this great jacket
