Perfect balance of lightweight, durability and athletic fit
I love skiing in these trousers as I barely notice they are there. But they are still durable - not a mark from skiing through trees and branches. A perfect balance of lightweight, durability and athletic fit to allow me freedom on my skis. The vents are a good size and placed further back which keeps the wind out - ideal for ski touring but I also opened them while resort skiing on a warm day. And the pockets are perfectly placed for easy access to a phone or a snack while ski touring or on a chairlift.
Great sizing improvement
They improved the measurements from size to size. Last years medium was too tight in the waist and the large were way to big. I’m 5’8” 165 pounds. I’m usually size 10 pant in all Arcteryx so had hard time in their ski pants. This year the medium fits perfect! I matched them to my size 10 Ravenna and they were the same in the waist. Glad they made the adjustments because I know I wasn’t the only person complaining, according to the store I regular. The length is perfect and pocket placement is great. It will hold a beacon comfortably. I also like the choice of a belt option if needed. They are a flattering fit as well. I’d love to see these in red in the future.
The only snow pant I ever want to wear
Thank you THANK YOU Arcteryx for the tall option! Words cannot describe how happy you have made this tall chick who has spent years juggling between sizing up, wearing low, men’s pants, etc etc. in order to get pants long enough. But these pants… I just put them on and BAM. Day made. They look great on my bootay, are long enough for my 36in inseam, fit over snowboard boots easily, are durable as all getup, and never ride down (but just in case you fluctuate in weight like I do, I can use the built in belt whenever). I use these for touring, uphilling, downhilling, lot-chilling, sun-napping, burger-devouring, and even shoveling the driveway during big dumps. Thanks for changing my winter world, Arcteryx. Please don’t make talls in more colors, I might not be able to say no. SIZING: I am a large in most brands (Athleta, Patagonia) and got these in a Large Tall. Also, they are not lined, but I only ever wear a very lightweight baselayer and it is enough!
versatile, waterproof pant
These work great for resort/light backcountry skiing. Haven't tried the touring cuff system, but will do so this weekend. The black ankle cuff/gaiter JUST fits over my ski boot and feels a bit plasticky but so far has held up well and stays in position. I wear with the insulated under-knicker. Fit of the leg is a bit straight/baggy but with a no-stretch fabric, you need room to move. Love the leg pockets design. Paired with the Tiya jacket, lower back is a tiny bit drafty in the tuck position. Going to consider one of the jackets with Slide’n Loc next time. 5'8" 130 size small.
Dry Dry Dry
I’m a snowsports instructor who has suffered from soggy butt my entire career. I finally purchased these after 2 recommendations from colleagues. My first test was 2 full driving days of rain from open to close. Pants functioned wonderfully and I stayed perfectly dry the entire time. Kept my phone in my pants pocket with no added protection and it stayed dry as well. After a decade of teaching I never thought this truly possible. The pants are rugged and cut in a flattering but comfortable manner. They gave my muscular legs and butt enough room to go through all ranges of motion required. The liner is a pleasant texture for bare skin and leaves plenty of room for a baselayer. My only 2 (very small) suggestions for future versions are: 1) the best attachment point for a lanyard pass is in the lower left leg pocket which requires my to be able to zip/unzip for scanning. As I wear mittens I need to take them off for this bit. If you run RFID, you’ll be set. 2) the built in belt occasionally gets twisted and takes a bit of attention to untwist.
LOVE these pants!
Have just spent a week skiing in these pants in a variety of conditions and temps and absolutely love them—best pants I’ve owned in decades of skiing. Wear with smartwool 250 in cold and Rho LTW in warmer temps. Love the features and the fit. Specifically love the pockets, which are so well placed and designed. The fit is loose but still flattering. Also love the integration with the Sentinel AR jacket. I am more comfortable with a short inseam, because I’d rather not drag a bit when my boots are off, and would definitely buy other colors if they were not sold out in short.
Just Amazing
I have worn these 5 times now and they are just amazing. Not only are they extremely comfy and fit absolutely perfect, but they are 100% water proof and warm. The last time I was out it was -10 outside and I only had 2 pairs of leggings on (1 insulated and the other normal) and I didn't even notice the cold. They block the wind, have plenty of pockets, and perfect for skiing in them. They are versatile as well. I have worn them back country skiing, hiking, resort skiing, and snow machining. I am so happy that I got these for Christmas.
Fit is too tight
This product changed fit from Previous years (19/20) The thigh is narrower. I have an athletic build but now I can't tour in them unless I have the vents open, I'm 5'8" 160, and wasting size large. I loved my pants from last season because it was one of the only brands that fit mounatin women thighs, now they dont. Also there is only 2 pockets there used to be an additional pocket up by the hip great for snacks or cord but now there is only 2 and I can't have my phone or beacon in the pocket because then the paint is too tight.
Hello Marie, Thanks for contacting Arc'Teryx and sharing your feedback. Because customers and designers rely on these reviews to inform future decisions, we appreciate when consumers share their experiences with Arc'Teryx equipment. For this season's Sentinel pant (AR and LT) we have actually taken the thigh measurement out to an outside circumference of 64.5 cm in a women's base size, as opposed to the 63 cm in previous years models in the women's base size. This increased size is across the board, keeping in mind we do allow for a 2.5 cm +/- for sewing tolerance. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our products or require further information on your specific sizing, we welcome you to contact our Customer Service Department. at 1-866-458-2473 (available Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM PST). One of our representatives would be happy to assist you. All the best
Love the LONG length!
I actually went with these because they were one of the only winter shell/pants that was available in a long size. I'm 5'11" and often the normal length is a bit of an awkward ankle length for me. So getting these in long was AWESOME and they have been fantastic on the hill! I wear the Rho base layer pants under these when skiing and they have been fabulous. The belt is super helpful, pockets and vents are great and they move super well. Paired with Sentinel AR shell, its sooooo goood!
Not as waterproof or warm as I expected
On my first ascent of the day, after sitting in a gondola at Whistler, my butt was cold, and my underlayer stuck to my bottom from being wet. I was wearing a wool breathable under layer. I think that perhaps these pants are only meant for warm weather. I would not recommend for downhill conditions as they are just not warm enough despite their fuzzy interior finish (which is definitely not a lining) I do not know what I need to do to address this. Wear another pant underneath?
