Sizing: I’m 5’4” and 137lbs curvy. I initially purchased a size L (length short) based on being at the very top of M the size chart and the “runs small” note. However, I found them true to the chart and L was significantly too large in the hips/waist. The size M (length short) fits great and allows for a base layer underneath. They are high quality and as flattering as puffy pants can be. I really appreciate the pockets and zippered ankles that are high enough to realistically pull on over shoes. Looking forward to sitting around camp on chilly evenings and being comfortable in our unheated cabin.
These pants haven't seen much action yet, but they sure have proved their worth. I live in a cabin in the winter and love these pants for lounging inside without the need for a blanket all the time. And for snowy walks around the neighborhood, these are perfect to slip over a pair of yoga pants and go for a casual stroll without having to don the more tech outerwear. Knocked a star off because they do size quite large. I measured accordingly and was on the cusp of a L or XL. Went with the XL and they are way too big in the hips and legs. They're not the most flattering when they're this baggy, but for cabin life, they work just fine.
Love these pants! Very comfortable, and they fit great. I have very long legs and struggle finding pants that are long enough, even if they are XLong, but these are a great length. I buy 36” to 38” inseams on jeans. I am a bit worried about them being too warm with no way to vent, I wish they had zippers all of the way up the leg. Unfortunately they showed up too late for me to take them on a chilly backcountry trip, so I can’t attest to how warm they are; the delivery date was delayed 3 different times. I would maybe recommend that mtn hardwear use a different carrier. I plan on using these this ski season!
Best cold-weather pant ever. Lightweight, comfortable, and allow great range of motion. Very deep front pockets so no worries about phone, gloves, etc. falling out. Zippers up to mid-calf so pulling on and off with shoes on is a cinch. Elastic waste with snap, zipper and drawstring make quick changes even easier. You don't need a cumbersome, long parka on top to stay warm - I use a waist length jacket so walking, running, etc. is so much easier and I'm perfectly warm. I bought 3 pairs as gifts for loved ones this year since getting exercise outside is such a safe option for people without a gym in their home during Covid. I'm 5'5", 125lbs, size 6 and size Small fits perfectly.
Everything I expected and more. I love the fact that they have short sizing and it was the right length for me. I'm 5'3 and 140lbs and the small/short was perfect. Maybe I should have tried the medium for a little bit more room in the waist since it does have a drawstring but settle on the small cause I was too anxious to rock it. Very warm and comfortable to just lounge in. I wear them out and about when I'm going out for a night walk with the dog or just running errands around town. I have not tried them out in the mountains but know they would do great. Highly recommend. But wait for it go on sale.
I was able to enjoy my hike without freezing to death and being uncomfortable. I love Mountain Hardwear everything! Every season I wait to see the latest releases. I am 5 ‘2 , 127 lbs. my measurements put me between a small and medium, so I size down to a small and the fit is perfect over top of my leggings. If your long underwear layering system is thick, I recommend getting your regular size.
This is a nice pant, quite warm and lightweight, though not as warm as the Compressor pant (which I'd really love to see in a women's cut). These pants do run large, particularly in the waist, not so much in the legs. I'm 5/8", 165 lbs, with skier's thighs and not so much in the middle. The XL size leaves a lot of extra material at my waist, but I wouldn't want them smaller in the legs as I need to be able to bend and flex for skiing, snowmobiling, and other outdoor activities. I routinely wear these with long johns and an outer layer such as an insulated rainpant in temperatures down to -20F.
I already had a pair of down pants from a different manufactured, back when they very first became available about a decade ago. They had an elastic waistband and a stuff sack, and no other features. These Mountain Hardware pants add a ton of features to the benefits of down layering. I love that the legs taper to control air flowing up my legs. I love that the legs have short side zips to help get socks on and off easily, and that there's a zipper at the waist like a pair of jeans plus the inside cinch tie. And I like having hand pockets too. Lots of bells & whistles make these nice indeed
My mom gave me these to wear after surfing one day. It was one of those big waves but cold winter days along the northern CA Coast. These pants were easy to pull on, I loved how light they are and yet they warmed me back up quickly. They are awesome! I’m 5’7”, 119 lbs and the XS is perfect.
Just got these (I'm 5'5") and it seems like it's made for a 6' tall person. So sad to have to return it. Do they sell it in petite?
