WIth this and a fleece, I'm cold-proof
Love this jacket. Definitely warmer than my patagonia version. WIth this and a fleece, I'm cold-proof. I also like that there are no feathers and is easy to wash.

Not the same
I have an old North Face Thermoball that I absolutely love. It has finally worn out. I have recently purchased a new North Face Thermoball only to find that the cut in the chest/shoulders is different. The amount of arm movement before feeling restricted has significantly been reduced. If you are using the jack to stand around in, it may be a great cut for you. But if you are using it to do stuff, try in on in the store before buying online especially if you have owned the prior cut. I took some pictures where it looks like the new cut in one to two inches smaller in the chest area.

Beware of Sizing

I have a version of this coat that I love that is a few years old now. It is an XL and fits great. When I received my new XL order of this coat, it had a tag marked "slim fit" which I did not notice in the description prior to ordering. When I put on the new coat, it was too snug to be comfortable. A huge difference when compared to the old XL. I assumed the same coat of the same size would fit the same...NOT true. The material also feels less comfortable in the wrist area. It's not as soft and smooth as before. Other than that, I'm sure this is still a good coat although I won't be wearing it. Really bummed. It would be nice if REI pointed out the manufacturer changed the cut of the coat. Bottom line, I need to restrict clothing purchases to "in-store" since there aren't really consistent standards in sizing so you don't know for sure until you try something on. REI's return policy is great but this is still a hassle. Unfortunately, this item will be returned.

Beware: ThermoBall change - now slim fit

Same issue as other reviewers. They changed the sizing of this jacket, and it's now a slim fit. It's noted only at the bottom of the fine print. I was expecting it to have the same cut as the one I bought previously, but it's very tight.

Light and easy fit but warm

This jacket is a great item. Attractive but functional - warmer than I thought.

Good jacket

Very good quality that you would expect from North Face. I bought a small size for my son who is about 5’5” and very thin 110lbs and it fits him well.

perfect jacket

I purchased this for my son. He is about 170 lbs and 6'1. I got the large and it fits perfect. It is a slim fit so it looks nice not super big.
